We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun! "TESLAsterone" was King and "A Tesla the Hun!" had not yet been conceived. We had rallies in the summers of 2009, 2010 & 2011 & each time it was the largest gathering of privately owned Teslas in the WORLD! Nothing in 2012. The Hun! would like to participate in a SoCal Tesla Run... anyone else?

Also - If we do get a nice recommendation and I can work out like a "group buy" situation where a few of us can show up one saturday and they can just knock em out one after another, would anyone be interested in that?
Do people think there is a business in peer to peer Model S rental on a weekly+ basis just to other South Bay Area Model S owners?

I see about 10 cars inside Chilton Auto Body in San Carlos. If Chilton and the service center made a referral for cases where they can't issue a loaner, do you think there would be enough business to make the payments on a single car?

Please contact me (Kim Rogers) at krogers@alumni.calpoly.edu if you can make it to this 4th of July parade in San Jose. I've been in this parade for the last 2 years (in my old EV), and this year I will be there with my grey Model S. I would like to invite other Tesla owners to join us. It would be perfect if we had some red (sig red and multi-coat red), white (pearl white and solid white), and blue Teslas to show our pride; but all colors are welcome. Let's get both Roadsters & Model S cars to showcase the best cars in the world! You can even decorate your cars with flags, and such. We will be in the "EV" section of the parade. Last year, we had many Leafs, but no Teslas -- I know we can do much better this year.

Here are details:
Rose White and Blue Parade
8am: Parade assembly in Lincoln High School parking lot (555 Dana Ave, SJ)
10am: Parade starts

The parade is over by noon, and there is basically a block party on The Alameda between Magnolia (?) and Race Street.

The parade goes through the streets in the Shasta-Hanchett Park neighborhood of San Jose (near the Rose Garden).

I installed a separate metered panel and outlet for my HWPC on March 30th and got it finaled on April 17th. From April 17th to now, I have been charging the hell out of it for my 85 KW battery. The electric meter was originally Zero (since it was new), and now reads over 1,300 KW... and counting. I have not received a bill at all.

For those on the E-9B rate and installed a new meter, how long did it take you to receive your bill? I don't want to end up with one large fat bill. It's been over 2 - 2.5 months of usage. My regular bill that is on E-1 comes every month. If PG&E forgot to bill or create an account, I'm not going to complain either. :p

Thought we could have a thread to gather feedback on today's "Coffee and Cars" gathering in Menlo Park for the benefit of the organizers. Here are my two cents:

Pros:
- Terrific turn-out.
- Good coffee caterer.

Cons:
- I have to say it, it felt like a squandered opportunity for Tesla. I think I counted only 3 employees staffing the event, out of which one was in "civilian clothes" and was hard to spot. With that kind of crowd, with lots of prospective buyers, they should have called in staff from Santana Row or wherever and have at least 10 people in red and grey. Can't imagine everyone vying for a test drive got one. (Where was GeorgeB? He would have been completely in his element here...)
- What about an agenda, a presentation, some bone to throw to those of us owners that showed up? Sure, it was good fun to meet up and chat for a bit, always good to have an excuse to get out and drive a bit but... I don't know. Yeah I know, there was nothing else mentioned in the invite. Something more to make it an event other than a much over-worked barista would have been nice. (That poor dude... completely blindsided by the size of the crowd. Great guy took it in good stride and produced some very decent coffee.)

That's my spontaneous reaction. Anyone else?

Hi guys: delivery of my Model S happens tomorrow! Hooray!

I want to have the front license plate installed non-destructively (without drilling). I looked around online, including this forum, and while there is a lot of discussion about doing it but I was not able to find good direct links to products or installers (in the LA area) to make it happen. Suggestions?

I found this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MY1cGIIGVWo

Seems like a good idea. Now I just need to make sure that I get the right nuts, bolts, and foam (which seems simple enough for me to do myself). Can anybody relay how they did it, with names and links to products or service people?

I've taken previous cars to track days and was interested in taking my P85+ when it arrives so I mailed Thunderhill to see what charging facilities they had. The general mil account responded and sent pictures of their 50 amp plugs they currently have in the paddock area for use but said they would love to work with Tesla. A few hours later I got a mail from their CEo who was very interested in getting a supercharger installed at the track.

He made some good points that would make me thing Tesla and Thunderhill would make good partners. The track is located just off I5 in Willows, just north of Sacramento and close to one of the proposed sites in the Supercharger announcement yesterday. They can make it available 24/7 for users and have a green energy plan to expand on their 300+ solar panels with a solar farm and three wind turbines. They also have Myth Busters and other automotive related tv filimg at the track on occasion.

I've already tweeted Elon, if others in NorCal are interested lets see if we can get Tesla's attention!

Hello all,

Amir in the TM forum has been in touch with Rick at Reus Audio about a group buy for their Model S sound system upgrade for installation in the Bay Area. Rick believes that he can do a group install for about $3.5K - $4K (about a $500 discount) if we can get about 5-6 customers together. I've communicated my interest to Amir, so we now need 2-3 more people.

Interested folks can contact Amir in the TM forum or PM me here.

Thanks!

I hadn't seen this mentioned in the forums yet.

The California New Car Dealers Association has their quarterly report out, and lists the Model S just behind the Mercedes E-class and BMW 5 series for sales in California.

Interesting to see the Tesla ahead of the Audi A6 and Lexus GS and hanging in there with the big boys in its first full quarter of full production.

(also, note the irony of getting this info from a dealers association)

it's on page 2: http://www.cncda.org/publications/Ca...ring_1Q_13.pdf
