I've been aware of NEDRA (National Electric Drag Racing Assn.) for a while. . . But I had never heard of Formula Lightning until I accidentally stumbled across it today.

According to Wikipedia, the official race series ran from 1994 through 2004. It would appear from the WVU team website that they are still tinkering with their car and taking it to various kinds of events, such as EV Autocross.
