Or, rather than a single cell...

BQ20Z80EVM-001 Impedance Track(TM) Fuel Gauge For LiIon Battery Packs - BQ20Z80EVM-001 - TI Tool Folder

The evaluation kit for TI's Impedance Track module for 2, 3 or 4 series Li-ion or Li-ion Poly cells. If I remember correctly, the ESS groups cells together in 4's for monitoring.

I wonder if Impedance Track is already in the pipeline for the revised Roadster and/or Whitestar.

Then again, maybe they're already using an earlier version.
