Why do we care about Proton? Because Proton owns Lotus, and if Lotus goes under. . . then who is going to assemble the Tesla Roadster?

Don't panic yet, there are multiple ways this could work out.

I suspect Lotus will be sold off and continue operating. Since 1982, it's had three owners: General Motors, Romano Artioli’s Bugatti, and Malaysian automaker Proton. At one point Toyota owned 25%.

Wouldn't it be great if Tesla bought Lotus manufacturing? ;)

They bought youtube for 1.6 Billion.....why not invest in something useful for a change besides a website about people uploading their videos which amounts to 1% interesting stuff and the rest...well.
