I was told on the sly that the "Boston" store will be in Natick, presumably at the Natick mall. There's a property for lease right across from the mall that would make a perfect service center. No word, though, on when it will be open. I'm hoping by Q4.

Does it say when the position will begin work? Presumably there will be a considerable training period, and then the service center will open.

Robert, are you referring to the old Sam's Club building (in the center of the "rotary"?

I asked my teenage daughter to scout out the entire mall and let me know if there was any signage - none yet.
I have her on a retainer and expect to hear updates as they come available :smile:

One of those unoccupied buildings is a parking garage. :smile:
The other is the former Sam's Club - and was a software company or two well before that.

I am not sure anyone mentioned this yet, but It did mention an October opening date. Did that refer to a California not Mass store?

Tesla has always wanted a more hands-on approach to selling cars, opting to set up a network of Apple Store-like dealerships and showrooms. An attorney for the dealers wrote to the town, saying, "We want to ensure that Tesla complies with all the same requirements that our new car dealership members are required to comply with. Silverman said it is unclear whether Tesla plans to sell vehicles or simply run a showroom. They sought a license for sales, but Building Commissioner Michael Melchiorri wrote in a letter to the town that the applicant’s attorney has indicated they have no plans to sell cars or parts at the Natick Mall site.

Car salesrooms are prohibited at and near the Natick Mall by town zoning, but Melchiorri wrote this is “more of a ‘showroom’ for all electric car technology and a display location for Tesla projects.”

That's great. I have been checking the mall's website weekly for any mention of Tesla, but nothing yet. On another note, I am expecting my config email next week, but will be deferring due to a new home purchase and the Sunset Red. Yes, I did have the builder put a 50amp plug in the garage.

I'm taking out a $100K Home Equity line of credit, on my paid-off house, in case I need some of it when I get my configure email (not estimated until Spring 2013, Reservation # P10010). Want to trade reservations? :-)

I think you have to trade actual cars, not reservations. TM only allows direct family transfers, AFAIK.

Forwarding this to my dad who moved up to Boston 3 weeks ago. I have yet to convince him that an electric car can be nicer than the cheapest of cheap ICEs. I think he may go though. I know he will be converted as soon the instant he drives one.

Unfortunately... no. Wednesdays are my legally mandated day off. I will visit the store in a couple months when things slow down at work and probably finalize at the same time. Can you guys push the reps for more specific info on the availability of Sunset Red? That is all I am really waiting for. The electrician installed my NEMA 14-50 yesterday.

LOL almost. Yesterday I promised to give all the new employees a ride in the Roadster so I went there today at closing and did jut that.
This will be an interesting week for sure! Only 3 more days left with the Roadster! :scared:
