That's a new one on me, I haven't heard about that feature before.
It may be something Tesla evaluated, then decided not to offer?
The photo appears to be private now.
It showed a little bitty LCD monitor (showing a view from a backup camera) embedded in the rearview mirror.
Those rear view mirror displays are an off the shelf item, similar to this (http://www.laipac.com/multimedia-rear-mirror.htm).
I was excited when I first saw that photo since it could (in principle) be used to display any other information the driver saw fit to put there. Especially desirable since the VDS seems to be in the least visible position in the car short of behind the driver's headrest. ;)
Yes, it looked just like that item you mention in your link.
