CNN had a decent article on the Roadster that indicated there was a delay in the Roadster because of a transmission switch.

As far as I can tell, the October target is not a delay.

The change of transmission isn't really news (except to CNN, I guess). This was reported at least six months ago, I think.

If it hadn't been for the transmission problems Tesla would have been delivering the first cars to customers this month, or possibly even last month. That was the original schedule. The new schedule is for Oct/Nov, so that's roughly a three-month delay. Not bad, all considered.

Tony - you are right. The "delay" that Reuters reported and that many picked up was just Martin making a reference to what was already known about the transmission. For some reporters, it was news to them so they reported it as news.
