View Full Version : Tesla Roadster vanity license plates

I always liked the idea of that plate too... Plus on a fast read someone could confuse it for "KickingA..."

not my city code, but...
At the Mercer Island Plug-in America event, I overheard a husband-wife Leaf owning couple pondering the meaning of plate 00FF00 on a nearby Roadster. When I explained that it was hex for the color green, they said "oh, ok, but it's a black car!". So I had to remind them of "green" technology. So, evidently the plate is esoteric and nerdy on two levels. Hmm, I wonder if FFFFFF is still available.

Hey! I wasn't going to post that. Recharge=5 seconds (to plug in at night, and walk away... Try that with a gas pump...)

Hey TEG... Of the 5 (math check!) reds in your post, which one do you think is closest to the S Sig Red?
None of them. Just look at your Avatar!

I didn't forget you... Just was doing a "lec/lek" theme.
By the way, did you know about this other one? :

Anyone have: IPASGAS ?
A Prius in California has that, as well as a Prius in Florida.
But, according to this, it is now 'banned' in Florida:

He posted here that he saw mine and had to get it for himself, so I knew about it. I think it's really cool.
I like that his VIN is exactly 100 more than mine, too.

The owner of that green one is a good friend of mine of over 25 years - and is why I looked at Tesla to begin with.

I've seen at least 7 different version of the S Sig Red in various photos. So I'm not sure which one is likely to be closest to reality. Hence looking to "real cars" (existing Roadsters) to guide expectations a little.

Judging color on the internet can be tricky. It looks great in person, kind of a deeper, dark red.

This is the wrong thread for it, but I think the Elon/Akio personal special "candy apple" red, which I like to call "ruby" is the closest...

Oh, man, is that a sweet color. I will note that the color can be affected by detailing treatment. I swear RR gets a bunch deeper after an afternoon of Zaino (which I just did yesterday, and 'boy, are my arms tired').
And yeah, color on teh interwebs sucks. Don't trust the color in a browser. And even if that were all color corrected and profiled and everything, you'd still have the angle/depth/metamerism issues.

I caught this one in the Tesla D.C. store on 9 March; Roadster 1189. It was loaded with every CF option imaginable.

I didn't like the way the 2 was hidden by the background image, so I sprayed some white paint on the plate and wiped off the letters. You can see what it says MUCH better :-)

seen yesterday in MP
The license plate seen on a Roadster this morning at the Lincoln Tunnel was "A TESLA" unsure if he was from NJ or NY...
...That was in May 2010 - "A TESLA" was spotted again, today, in Colts Neck, NJ, near where I work - Who is this mystery Teslerer?

Also, I park next to dunwgas on a regular basis. It's cool to see other roadsters you know on here.
