The California Air Resources Board meets this Thursday (March 27, 2008). One item on the agenda is to consider adoption of staff recommendations for amendments to the ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) mandate.

Ze'ev Drori posted the public comment below, representing Tesla.

I noticed Chelsea Sexton, representing Plug-in America also commented, along with dozen's of others.

I know that many electric car enthusiasts believe this meeting may have a major impact the pace electric car development.

What do the people here think?

I would like to see the ZEV mandate at least remain where it is and not be lowered. I think the point was made that the new recommended minimum was going to be 2500 cars from 2012 to 2014, reduced from 25000. That's pathetic when some traditional automakers are already beginning to develop some EVs like the iMIEV and the R1e.

Sometimes CARB seems more political than reasonable.
