    Cyberbeast Fail

Exoskeleton is just a term Elon made up as applied to vehicle construction. It is and always been a unibody.

Top Gear Cybertruck off road test

On the type of terrain they were on a raptor would run circles around a CT. As for the racks and topper in the picture. I’m not sure how you could put a safari rack on the CT with the goofy pointy roof. Flat roof cyber SUV?

Top Gear Cybertruck off road test

My guess is overheated something. Most likely the air suspension or diffs. Jeeps with air suspension shut down commonly when off road on high frequency stretches as air suspensions generate a tremendous amount of heat from all the compression of the air.

Confirmed 8,000+ Cybertrucks produced so far (VINs seen in person on 4/21/24)

VIN’s are usually not sequential for long number series. Aside from 1,2,3 they are usually all over the map. Different trims are very different in the series. what I’m getting at is just because high-low=>8000 does not at all mean that >8k have been produced.

Tesla Cybertruck Towing an All Electric RV (Pebble Flow Review and First Drive)

Super long road trips? This set up will Get you 100-150 miles of reliable usable range. Also no Weight distribution set up on a 6k+ trailer seems sketchy.

Tesla Cybertruck Towing an All Electric RV (Pebble Flow Review and First Drive)

For a motor home would probably have to extend the frame. But for just putting a truck bed drop in on the existing frame I wouldn’t see why they would. But who knows.

Tesla Cybertruck Towing an All Electric RV (Pebble Flow Review and First Drive)

Sign me up as well. Tesla Semi with a truck topper. I’d do an arctic fox or Lance. Something like this probably would be not much more then the CT+pebble.

Tesla Cybertruck Towing an All Electric RV (Pebble Flow Review and First Drive)

It is priced “from” $125k so who knows what it will come in at. The tanks are pitifully small, the battery may be 7 days off grid but with only 37 gallons of fresh water good luck going that long. My camper has a 70 gallon fresh water tank and with my family of 4 we can only get by for 4-5...

Cyber(nota)truck even more Not a truck than I first thought

Good choice. Rules of thumb for off road (and track cars) is run the smallest rims that will fit over the brakes. For anything you will off road or overland rim diameter should be at most ~1/2 the tire outer diameter. I know a ton of guys that run 17’s with 33-34’s and 18’s with 35+. For the...

Cyber(nota)truck even more Not a truck than I first thought

AWD crossovers can be much more capable than trucks. I saw a wrangler Rubicon on the other day with 34” tires on 24” rims. A Subaru/Rav4/…. On appropriate (small) rims with all seasons would run circles around it on most off road situations. Tires and rims are the #1 factor off road.
  12. C

    Cybertruck is a scam.

Well for me what was most surprising was the CT didn’t blow a tire, scary close to a pinch flat multiple times…. 🫣 Crappy suspension, crappy traction control, big rims, long WB, And the driver was unskilled which didn’t help. Also the spotters, I’m surprised none got run over. “Hey y’all...

I don’t think “twitter post” and “well researched” go in the same context…. Ever. .

    Silverado EV

But when they didn’t stop, they continued to lose $$$ on every vehicle sold. You can say all day that each product sold is profitable but when the company is losing money even due to expansion and RnD, they are not. They couldn’t expand and develop without the money they were investing into...

    Silverado EV

Do you believe this crap? What about the roadster? Model S? Model X? Tesla lost money on every vehicle sold until some time in 2019. Tesla was circling the drain up until the model 3 release. And would long be under if the 3/Y hadn’t been a large success. Elon was begging Apple (or...

    Silverado EV

What truck do you have? What was your tire swap? Did you go from 30-32” tires on 18” to 34” tires on 24” rims? No way in a million years fuel efficiency is reduced the same in an ICE truck vs EV. Just based on the pure physics. An ICE truck is rolling along using 1800-2500 wh/mi when you...
  18. C

    Silverado EV

You are insane. EV trucks will dominate fleet sales very soon: Little to no PM, all the connection monitoring built in, electricity cheaper then fuel, subsidies,…. And GM is the frontrunner for the transition to EV in fleet truck sales. There is a reason they focused on fleet first.
  19. C

    Cybertruck is a scam.

I agree with you for some GM products. But their trucks (especially full sized) tend to be of some of the most reliable vehicles on the road.

    500 mile range? LOL

Almost every day, heck I hunt and fish off bikes, even bike commute ~30-50% of the time year round. The switch to china happed fast. Now even most high end $10-15k+ bikes are made in china. Another good example high end knives. China made: WE, civivi, and james brand are as much or more...

That is what people said about bikes 20 years ago and most electronics 30 years ago.

If anything kills them in the relatively near future, it won’t be Tesla. It will be the Chinese.
  23. C

    500 mile range? LOL

Failing? ICE manufactures are for the most part doing better than ever. Have you seen what people are paying for cars these days. It’s hard to buy much under $35k. Average price paid for an F150 is over $50,000. That’s the number one vehicle sold in the US. Some small dealers are failing...

    Cybertruck is a scam.

Makes sense? I guess to Tesla. But sucks.

    Cybertruck is a scam.

I haven’t had a Tesla with air. But on the cars that I have had there was a way to turn off the “lower on park” feature. I can’t imagine you couldn’t do this in the CT/S/X.
  26. C

    500 mile range? LOL

Possibly sick at the time and using it as a form of infection control. I wear one at all times in public (even outside) when I’m covering the respiratory unit in the hospital.
  27. C

    Silverado EV

Well this really ain’t surprising. GM knows how to build a truck. Tesla tried to go way too outside the box and ended up with a not really a truck. I think the CT would have been much better as Santa Cruz size.
  28. C

    Silverado EV

I got my invitation to order my CT 3-4 weeks ago. I could have it now. I canceled, one of the top reasons is towing my camper (24’, ~7k lbs)at least a usable 200 miles is a must for me and an EV truck. Silverado 4wt looks like it is it for me. I wouldn’t hold my breath for the range extender.
  29. C

    Cybertruck is a scam.

It will take a ton to make this thing off road reliable. Even for things like forest service roads and long trip on gravel or dirt roads
  30. C

    Cybertruck is a scam.

Verdict: The electric truck for digital natives who crave attention more than they do adventure. Hahaha.
  31. C

    Inner Tire wear?

My vote is the picture is photoshopped and the truck was not in that position. The tire, suspension, and position of the truck look odd for it to really be in that position with a tire up. My 2nd guess is odd distortion from a wide angle lens and the tire in question is on the rock.
  32. C

    Opinions on two wheel designs?

Yes Remove the fake bead lock and make them in an 18” that fit over the brakes.

    Cybertruck Tear down

Pretty cool video. Looks like the SS “exoskeleton” isn’t as structural as Elon eluded.

    Germany bans Cybertruck

And the millions of trucks on 35’s from the factory.
  35. C

    Germany bans Cybertruck

bring in Australia was way off topic because like the US trucks are some of their most popular vehicles. It makes sense Ford sells trucks there, The Ford ranger is the #1 vehicle sold in Australia (#2 is the Toyota helix). Mid and Full sized pickups are not common in most parts of Europe.
  36. C

    Germany bans Cybertruck

Australia isn’t in the EU (Europe). It is its own content (Australia) which is very different and very far from Germany and the UK. And yes pickups are common in Australia. But per the discussion here, not in EU (Europe) where Germany and the UK are located.

    Cybertruck towing Airstream

Tesla claims up to 40% in 15 min. So let’s say 80% in 30-45 min real world conditions plus the time it takes to pull off the road you are on, possibly disconnect the trailer, possibly hook back up, get back on the road,… so now I’m saying at least 45 min. You really think the Silverado won’t...

    Cybertruck Basecamp Tent / Camping

Hahaha. Bears will rip windows out for a snickers bar. A bear has one of the best sense of smell in the entire animal kingdom, 7-10x better then a blood hound. They can smell you from 30-50 miles away…. They can smell you in a car from miles away. I worked in Yosemite summers in high school...

    Cybertruck Basecamp Tent / Camping

    This proves my point above.
  40. C

    Cybertruck Basecamp Tent / Camping

I do a ton of off grid camping. No way you should use the trucks battery to run climate control for your tent/camper. You could easily use 20-50% in a weekend. Only way I would use the truck to heat/cool is if you were at an RV site with 240 30/50a hookups.
  41. C

    Cybertruck towing Airstream

No. For in the mountains You gain back, up to about %25 what you use going up and going up you use 2x-3x what you do on flat ground. When I drive to Fish the resurrection I go over 3 passes. And in my 3 average 25-30% more then I use driving on flat. Towing will be similar. My bet is Up and...

    Cybertruck towing Airstream

I approach things with the attitude of I am wrong, and gather information from there. Even in my specialty, I’m constantly gathering information, data, evidence,…. Possibly I was wrong in canceling my order?Could the CT get 200-300 miles towing? Nope. This is the first real world towing...
  43. C

    Cybertruck towing Airstream

Difference with an ICE is you can refuel quickly (not a 45 min SC stop every <2hrs). And you can carry gas cans when traveling to more remote places while camping. I’m sick of 8-9 mpg towing with my LX570, I was hoping for a 500 mile truck so I could get 150-200 towing. Silverado EV with its...
  44. C

    Cybertruck towing Airstream

It isn’t the weight as much as the air drag. It would probably get similar range pulling a <4k lb camper with a similar front profile.
  45. C

    Cybertruck towing Airstream

Goes in line with the ~100 miles of towing range I estimated. Glad I turned down my truck and canceled my reservation.

    Cybertruck Range Edmunds Test

Also all this phantom drain talk should not be surprising for anyone that has owned something with a battery. My ski boot and glove heaters lose 50% when they sit over the summer. My lionenergy 6 kWh “solar generator loses 10-20% when it sits through the winter.

    Cybertruck Range Edmunds Test

I do get the “wavy lines” when driving and a notification that the battery is being conditioned. However in the energy app it only shows “preconditioning %” when the car is parked and not when the car is driving. Also in the energy app on the graph it shows jumps down of 1-2% every time I park...

    Cybertruck Range Edmunds Test

Mine is a 2018, I got the first AWD in AK later summer 2018. Difference could very likely be the resistance heat in mine vs heat pump in yours. I’ve always got the “blue line” it issued to be larger. I’m guessing now the energy I would have been getting back is being consumed by more...

Yes but only when the battery is cold soaked. Pretty much only when it has been sitting outside unplugged below 15F (-10C).
