    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

I was getting very close to ordering a black/black M3P and now with the price increase it’s no longer eligible for the tax credit. So I’ll just wait it out. Eventually the supply and demand will have to catch up. Congrats to all who got their orders in before the (second) price increase!

Model 3 Highland or Model Y?

Cubic feet is one measurement but the Model Y can accommodate much taller and bulkier items in the cargo area. I have a very large Segway scooter that fits perfectly in the Model Y but there’s no way I could get it into my Model 3.

Help me decide Model 3P or Model YP

Interesting thread. I have an MYP and a LR RWD M3. I prefer to drive the MYP. The acceleration is insane. I know the M3P would be even faster but I’m not driving on a race track so I don’t think the difference would be all that meaningful for me personally. But being higher up and having all...

My Teslaunch Buying Experience - All-in-one Rim Protector

Yup, lesson learned. I actually started off the day by hooking up my pressure washer only to find the motor died. So I thought I’d just run it through a touchless car wash just to do a quick clean up. Never again. Looking for a new pressure washer now.

My Teslaunch Buying Experience - All-in-one Rim Protector

Well, I spoke too soon. Went to a touch less car wash today and I got too close to the right wall. Snapped the rim protector into little pieces. Minor damage to the wheel itself but probably would have been a lot worse without the protector. Now I need to order a replacement set I guess.

My Teslaunch Buying Experience - All-in-one Rim Protector

Glad to hear. So far mine have been great. No curb rash since installing them and so far FSD hasn’t curbed my wheels. But I get nervous a lot when it gets close and take it off FSD if I think there’s a chance it might hit.

Did you remove the protector to see if there was any damage to the wheel?

Daily Driver - Model 3 LR vs P?

Keep in mind that many of the people buying an M3P will have a $7,500 advantage over you in terms of the purchase price so when they go to resell it they can afford to sell it for less because they got into it for less. So I would only buy the M3P if it’s because that’s the car you really...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Understood, but for the Performance Model Y they went with all season tires so it’s not a given that all Performance trims will have summer tires. And judging by the number of people in this forum who are already planning to swap out the tires on delivery I’d say there’s clearly a market for...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Curious if the real reason Tesla chose the summer tires for the M3P is because Elon thought it was necessary to have a 0-60 time starting with a 2 and if he had gone with an all season tire it would have been just over the 3 mark. With the MYP it was already at 3.5 anyway so there was no...

Disappointed in my Model 3 Highland LR

Parts availability has always been a problem on brand new Tesla models. This is why I prefer not to buy a Tesla during the first year of its production run. The Highland M3 has 50% new parts so it’s going to take some time for them to build up spare parts inventory since they need all the...

Help me decide Model Y performance or Model 3 performance

They are both great choices. I drove a Model 3 for five years and just switched to an MYP last month when they had their crazy discounts. $39.5K for a black MYP with free FSD transfer and 5K SC miles. Pretty tough deal to beat. Looks like the M3P will be about $7K more, which buys you the...

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

I don’t know if the end of Q1 deals will be back in June but if they are and you can take advantage of both the tax credit and a big inventory discount, I’d go for the current model. Prices were so low in March that I had no problem going with the current model. I would not want one of the...

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

Juniper is likely to be released some time around Q1-Q2 2025 in North America. It’s expected to have a similar refresh to the Highland Model 3.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

They are just trying to shift demand to other colors by making red ineligible. Red cost more to produce so there’s no reason for them to give up margin when they can sell just as many other colors right now.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

The M3P is currently $6,250 more than the LR. We tend to think of it as being less money for those of us who are eligible for the $7,500 tax incentive. However, while it is less expensive for us, Tesla still recoups the entire $6,250 in extra revenue once it collects the $7,500 back from the...

Not everyone qualifies for the tax credit so they want to capture more margin for those who don’t qualify.

    Should I pull the trigger?

I would not want to take on more debt and pay a higher interest rate to trade in a car in perfect condition with low mileage and nothing wrong with it.

Any insight on why the M3P is only available with summer tires but if you click on “learn more” it shows all three options. It wouldn’t make sense to ship a car with summer tires to the North East region.

I was hoping the new M3P would not qualify for the tax credit. Now I’m tempted to buy it. That’s a lot of car for $46K!

The Modern Spare tire doesn't secure in the trunk, or does it?

I think it’s a good idea to keep a spare tire in your garage when you are driving locally. Worst case you flat bed the car home and then change the tire. For longer distance trips you have to live with it in the trunk or the back seat. It’s not ideal but it is what it is.

My Teslaunch Buying Experience - All-in-one Rim Protector

Just installed the Teslaunch All-In-One rim protector for 21” Ubertine wheels. Wow, I’m impressed. The color match is perfect. You can barely tell they are on. And installation was less than one minute per wheel. Great product!

    2024 MY "Price Adjustment" Math

MY pricing has been better than M3 pricing for a while now. When I was shopping for end of quarter deals an MYP after tax credit was the same price as the RWD M3.

Order before March 1 or wait until end of Q1

Tesla is not really all that different from the car dealer tactics we’ve all come to know. They don’t negotiate individual deals like dealers do but they change their pricing and incentives so frequently that you have to know how to play their game to get the best price.

    New Model Y Purchase Observations

Do you mean EAP? Owners with EAP still have to pay the full $99/month if they want the upgrade to FSD so it’s not a great investment at this point as it would take five years to recoup the cost over renting and you still don’t have full FSD.

My Teslaunch Buying Experience - All-in-one Rim Protector

Is the Teslaunch product a single piece or multiple pieces? I’ve seen some review videos showing it being a single solid piece but on their own website it shows multiple pieces being installed per wheel like the Magbak product.

    2024 MY "Price Adjustment" Math

    Auto park/summon

I was manually parking in a spot that had a curb on my right and I thought I could rely on Vision to guide me in. Vision showed I had plenty of room but the curb decided otherwise and I incurred minor curb rash on the front wheel. It left me wondering, if Vision was inaccurate in estimating the...

Order before March 1 or wait until end of Q1

I passed by a Tesla sales gallery today so I stopped in to ask a sales advisor if he had any idea what’s happening with the discounts. He said the discounts just went away one day without any warning to the employees, and they still have not heard from anyone at Tesla what to expect moving...

Camping mattress to sleep in Model Y?

I’ve been reading a lot of reviews on air mattresses for the Model Y and the one that looks interesting to me is the LightEase memory foam mattress. It does not require any inflation which I would prefer just to keep it maintenance free. Has anyone tried it...

    Model Y Suspension Advice

I think the complaints vary so much because people are used to different levels of comfort based on what cars they drove previously. I have a 2024 MYP with stock 21” tires. I read so many complaints about the comfort level of this configuration that I almost did not buy it. But after driving...

Reducing the MSRP, at least on Model Y, would also make him look ridiculous because he insisted that prices would go up as of April 1 by at least $1K.

    2024 MY "Price Adjustment" Math

So any guess what the strategy is here with removing the discounts when they have so much inventory? I know they will probably come back end of quarter but it’s only April and they still need to sell cars between now and end of June.

Model Y Performance vs Highland Long Range

Prices briefly dropped to $47K for the MYP for existing Tesla owners via the paint credit at the end of March. Otherwise $48K was the low. I think we’ll see those prices again end of June, if not sooner. I went with the MYP because of the discount and tax credit. I test drove the Highland M3...

Order before March 1 or wait until end of Q1

It’s hard to guess what Tesla is doing here given that we’ve been led to believe they have a massive amount of sitting inventory. And it coincides with the 10% layoff announcement this morning. The black/black MYP that i purchased on March 31 for $47,040 is now $53,270. Over $6K increase in...
