A propos... where is @Artful Dodger ? I see now that @Kruggerand name doesn't turn blue... were they banned and then deleted their account?

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Well, the role would be very important. Something related to AI or internet or green economy or space sure.... But not border security: what expert insight could he possibly have? Elon says many things on X but of you look closely you can actually say where he's knowedgable. Politically he's...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Elon has stated this many times. You know how he cut things with an hatchet: he's saying that if we continue the current energetic transition the rest will take care of itself. He doesn't like panic, nor radical environmentalism because for him it's detrimental to humanity. He thinks current...

Yes. Around 60%? I don't remember. Mmm, there were and there will be institutions that will vote No, and suggest to vote No. Uncle Leo voted No with his 27 millions shares. Morale is very low outside here, go check on X. This time will be a much closer call.

At the moment we don't know if a secret sauce is even possible. Right now we know for sure that self-driving is partially possible in two ways: the way Waymo does, with conditions and geofences and lidar and HD maps and the occasional remote takeover, and the way Tesla does, with billions of...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Mmmm. Things don't happen in a vacuum: 2023 was very very good, but 2024 has been a bloodbath so far for kinda everyone in the EV world. How is BYD doing, in EVs? How are the Americans or Europeans? From what I've seen, market is tight for everyone. Meanwhile, Tesla Energy is guided to grow...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

As of now, xAI and Tesla AI are quite different. The first deals in text (X as input and Grok as output), the second in video and movement in the space (video as I and FSD and Optimus as O). But right now there's no need to conflate the two, Elon wants freedom to operate with LLMs and Tesla...

First months of production of a revolutionary product like the CT is not the best moment to buy for "reasonable" buyers, who wants a good price/value ratio. I'm sure the first Rivians out of the factory were the most expensive models too.

I have no doubt about that. If he wasn't the CEO and majority shareholder.... which he is, so he gave himself some slack. But there should be no doubt that the problem has been Twitter: Musk accomplished what he did while being the CEO of SpaceX, and then BoringCo and Neuralink and for a time...

I have mixed feelings with Kimball. He seems a nice dude, not the smartest tool in the brunch but I kinda like him. His biggest asset would be not ti fear his Brother tho: Elon Is probably intimidating for everyone, but Kimbal knows him best. Otoh, I don't see him as having much Influencer lately.

Re bikes, Boryana Straubel, JB's wife, died while biking in 2015. So I have no doubt FSD will be a net improvement in safety for cyclists. (funny enough, she was employed by the now CEO of NPR, Katherine Maher, at the time head of the Wikimedia Foundation. I probably even met Boryana at some...

I'm just guessing, but Elon is definitely not rich enough to just leave Tesla be. His big dream is Mars, and for that he'll need billions and billions, and probably Optimus. Would you just step out butthurt or fight with an appeal the first decision and meanwhile make your millions shares...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

If Elon is not actually trying to persuade/talk with big investors, I see few chances. Uncle Leo is probably voting "no", and why should Vanguard or Norges Bank vote "yes" this time? The point is: what will be the consequences? I don't see Elon quitting (too much at stake) but I wonder.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

The FUD is getting to me about the victory of the "No" for the comp plan. What do we think it will happen, if this is the case? I don't see Elon quitting - why would he, with all his stocks? I tho see the SP suffer quite a lot for a while. But, again, each and everyone of my short-term...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

April 2024 was just <200 cars shy from April 2023. Some countries are stepping up, but the big 3 are declining: Germany, France and UK are down roughly 12k cars in the first 4 months of 2024, YoY. This means that it's like we lost a whole quarter of UK or France. So there are reasons to be...

I used Twitter personally and professionally even before and, while software-side ive seen improvements, Elon antics drive a way a huge part of interesting people. I totally agree, but... how can he - a really, really smart person - be oblivious to the fact that without a communication/PR department, him as the only "source of truth" regarding Tesla this style of communication causes issues? I mean, it's days the whole EV world is worried about...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

These are indeed uncertain times. Elon himself fuels the uncertainty, and I agree with many here that his public persona has alienated so much of Tesla original constituency (the progressive/environmental/Californian people who bought into Tesla and TSLA) that right now, in this "down" moment...

This. Also, it's quite tricky to discriminate between subsidies and tax cuts, incentives for gas cars, etc. There are a million levers, small and big, which lobbies used for incentivising the fossil fuel industry.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

/rant Generally, also, I feel that Tesla is losing a lot of credibility "politically" on the left/environmentalism. Especially in Europe. This is not only by association to Musk political commentary, although that was and still is a major factor. People see that Tesla new vehicle is the...

I agree there will be ownership for quite some time. Maybe, as we previously discussed, the "second car" could be avoided... I tend to agree with @nativewolf sentiment but here I disagree: Tesla never wanted to do the cell themselves from scratch. I'll believe carbon-neutral synthetic fuels when I see them. Not only production, but distribution and actual usage in normal cars. It's a possibility, but it's the carbon-neutral part that's hard. EVs are very simple and very easy to understand: zero emissions, as clean as the electricity...
