I made that mistake with a VW years ago, sold it with the car as the new car wasn't a VW... I've now had the same plate (which is a variance of my surname) for the last 8 years. I now actually prefer it as its a bit more personal than a brand/car on your numberplate.

This feature is likely to use UWB which isnt a component in the Y (yet) which is possibly why the Model Y is omitted from the feature. It is also being touted that it is only for iPhone for the time being, as the implementation of UWB on Android is somewhat more involved/challenging.

I think the only way you will know what is best for your personal circumstances is if you were able to get a test drive in a Performance when they finally arrive over here.

I have no idea why they are called 4D, I didn't name them... but there is a differentiation between 3D and 4D. 4D has a "stand off" letter/number, where are 3D are sort of domed. I would say it likely is 'both' tbh. Some people may like 3D/4D but don't like the faff of how to mount them.

Personal preference really, different people like different things. Same reason that some people might buy a pink shirt, and another guy might think it is hideous. I would imagine it is a combination of things. Maybe partly the contours of the car (especially on the front) making it difficult...
