Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

The range they have to advertise by law is the WLTP tested range. This is tested in conditions that you are unlikely to experience on the road, basically a best case scenario. Tesla use EPA tested range in the car display which is a little more realistic but even then depending how you drive...

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

Only ended up making about $25 profit from it but I had the oven and a bunch of other things going through the middle of it.

    Evie EV charging networks

I think as long as it's advertised it should be ok. Say they have off peak at 15c between 0900 and 1600 and peak from 1600 at 45c. If I rock up at 1559 I shouldn't expect to be paying 15c which may be under their supply costs, as long as it's clearly advertised in signage, app, etc. If they...

    Evie EV charging networks

Pretty sure with petrol, they can't change the price while you are filling. Though according to most ICE drivers they only spend 11 seconds for the entire filling process, lol. I guess if they show the costs ahead of time, ie off-peak is x between these hours, and peak is y between these hours...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Very scary example of how easy and quick it is to steal a modern vehicle via a relay attack. This is precisely why Tesla introduced the check a few versions ago to see if your phone has moved before allowing bluetooth to activate the vehicle. If only the German makers could have done an OTA...

Excellent news. Hopefully we'll start seeing some more popping up.

Yeah I think it's a relay or some sort connecting the HV system.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I wonder if it's seeing another indicator or flashing light through the back window of the car. That is the only time I've seen it get that wrong so far.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

lol haven't had that. I did have it showing an indicator on a car that wasn't indicating but then I realised from the camera angle it was looking straight through the back window to the roof of another vehicle that had a blinking yellow light just above where the indicator was.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I see all brake lights and indicators that are in view of the car.

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

Yeah, absolutely. That would be awesome when FIT's go into the $10+ range. I guess it varies state to state, I'm over 800 in credit now in ACT after only 6 months.

Nice write up mate! Will have to check one out myself when I get a chance.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

The last time I experienced the push/pull on the steering wheel to confirm lane changes was in the 2019 M3 back in October/ November. That was the one thing I really didn't like about auto lane change then. The 2024 M3 (since January) has never needed me to do that I set it to confirm and all I...

Reuters is the least credible source you could possibly find, however I suspect part of that story is correct as has been hypothesised here.

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

Yeah many years ago I used to get a loan car when I had my ICE serviced. They started charging for that ages ago though and you have to book like 6 months in advance to have any chance of getting one.

Yeah I passed my first ultra red this morning I think. On Horse Park Drive if it was anyone here.

    Superchargers in Australia

Sorry I'll leave it go at that. To bring back on topic, it seems clear that the reports were wrong and we still have a team who are still making progress in several countries. Hopefully we'll see more here soon as I'm aware of at least two senior positions in the team managing Australian...

    Superchargers in Australia

A random former employee is not an official company statement it's a rumour. You have no idea what their access to information was nor their motivation in making the claim. I'll take information coming from CURRENT senior supercharging team members known to communities in multiple countries who...

    Australian Model 3 highland accessories

Absolutely. My experience is that I reached for stalks twice in my first drive but after that could use them perfectly well including roundabouts without having to look. Within a week or two they were just second nature, I don't even think about it. I've always got them right under either...

    Superchargers in Australia

Turns out it was never a 100% lay-off anyhow. I'm hearing it was closer to 80%. So people were going out of their minds on completely wrong information. I know the response will be that Tesla should have given out all their internal company information and disclosed all their deals in the...

Ausgrid changing pricing for electricity grid access

If you check the Amber thread I have a video showing the app and explaining a little about how it all works
  33. Jules22

Ausgrid changing pricing for electricity grid access

Yep. As long as you have a 'smart' battery it'll provide all of the control and the algorithm to buy and sell energy based on the price forecasts or you can manually control our override as desired

    Superchargers in Australia

I think we all expected and stated that re-hires were likely. It fits with his philosophy that has served Tesla well of delete until you have to add some back. It also fits with the scenario that he lost confidence in the senior leadership and their ability to make the tough decisions required...

    Superchargers in Australia

Exactly the point. Musk might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the level of genius is undeniable (except in those blinded by petty hatred). None of the dozens of things his companies have achieved would ever be achieved by a "conventional" CEO, yet those who demand that he conform to their...

    Superchargers in Australia

Again quite common for departments in Tech companies (and many other industries, just Tech is where I have first hand experience on this) to be let go and have to re-apply for their jobs. Nobody 'just sends them home' on a paid holiday for a couple of weeks.

    Superchargers in Australia

Yeah, posted this a few days ago, was also part of the speculation if the director and other senior leaders were unwilling/unable to make the necessary changes that they decided to clean slate, get someone in to evaluate who they want back, etc and then rebuild. Not that unusual in tech companies.

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

Funny enough, many years ago I had a contract related to the IT systems going into Coles operated service stations and also did some work with Shell during the transition to Viva. I found it fascinating to find out how often people drive away with the pump still connected.

I'm sure MSM will find a Tesla that was driving within a 1km radius and blame it.

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

Yeah, makes sense, do the higher prices translate to higher FIT's in NSW? (I'm guessing not), the forecast is showing FIT of 36c for me from 1730 to 1830, what does it show for NSW?
  43. Jules22

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

Hmm, last night got to 14c for me, but during the day yesterday got down to 5c. I've got 10c between 1300 and 1430 today, I would have thought NSW and ACT would be the same, I guess while it's the same 'grid' it's different providers.
  44. Jules22

LFP battery - how often is too often to charge?

This has nothing to do with LFP though. In the rare instances where someone thinks they have to charge to 100% every time, that's an issue with that persons misunderstanding of the technology. As the poster above points out there are certainly occasions where you need to charge to 100% and...

I've enagaged lawyers in an attempt to recover FSD cost (Australian owner)

Yep, I've had TRUE phantom braking in Mazda's, ie full lock up of the brakes for absolutely no reason, not just a slow down of 2-3km/h As for rain sensors, absolutely, some who like to rant about fraud etc, seem to forget that they are not perfect. I'm not defending the Tesla system, it's got a...

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

Would be great to see some competition come in with these sorts of plans though, just to help spur more innovation. Would really like them to move to 5 minute billing rather than the 30 min average for example, something they've been talking about for a while. The value add such as EV charging...

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

The algorithm is pretty good after a couple of weeks. I used to manually do things quite often but I've really been leaving it do it's own thing the last couple of months. I don't use charge on solar, I usually import the power to charge when prices are very low (preferably negative) so that I...
  48. Jules22

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

There's about a 11c/kWh fee added by the supplier, but that's easily accounted for. Generally I'm buying for less than 10c and I wouldn't be selling for anything below 30c, often in the $$$. eg my average FIT over this past week is 77.2, with a 12.9c purchase price (slightly higher because I...

    Superchargers in Australia

Correct, with Tesla you have the added problem of organisations with political or financial agendas such as Reuters who have no regard for factual information but would be seeking out every ex-employee and offering incentives to get any hint of dirt that they can misrepresent and amplify.

    Supercharger - Glenelg, SA

Definitely one to monitor, from what I've seen on facebook though, I'd be wary as to whether this guy is actually what he says he is and if there was ever any actual plan for this site. Fingers crossed it is real though and does actually happen, SA definitely need more options.
