Tracker isn’t even loading for me haha must be overloaded :s Got even a bit of solar generation now that the storm is over.

well that was a storm eh!! Knocked our power out, first time in an extended outage where it’s not a 5min surge. Saw a transformer blow for the neighborhood behind us then we lost power too. +13h with no AC running on one Powerwall at 70% ain’t bad.

So the question is, does the $400 plus sell buyback rate of $0.04 outperform the Texas ERCOT market rate spikes in the summer and market rate buyback during the rest of the year. Do we trust the grid to hold up or not lol? @Jones1 how much did your friends earn last year with TE?

Fun memorial weekend project looks like haha Sadly, for sensitive equipment UPS's are the only way for the brief power dip when the Powerwall takes over.

Oh, if the breaker box / SPAN is opposite side of the house from the Gateway then it won't benefit you at all. Suppose you could always get some direct burial cable and do a shallow trench to the Gateway? Cat6 Outdoor Ethernet Cable
  8. wiltoking

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

The ethernet Switch creates more connections for your one cable that gets to the SPAN panel. Then you would have two cables going from the Switch, one for the SPAN and one for the Gateway. Both will be able to communicate through the one cable to your network which is in the conduit and more...

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

Is the SPAN panel by the Gateway? That's where you could install an ethernet switch and do a short run to the Gateway if nearby. Else, yea it sucks if there's no easy way to hardwire, but it's really the best way. Resolved all my connectivity issues when I did it, ran my own conduit too and went...

Same, the weak point of current nights-free plans is that the buy back rate is very low and we can’t participate in VPP. If TE offered nights free with a 45% market rate buyback and VPP I’d switch in a heartbeat.

Wow that kinda sucks, shouldn’t matter that the buy rate for vehicle charging is free, hope it’s just a software bug that they haven’t gotten around to smooth over

For the automation I highly recommend ChargeHQ, this is exactly what it does. Got the wife's MY using solar during the day if available (set a minimum solar production you want to see before charging and to start after PW is full) and if it hasn't fully charged during the day it will restart...

Same, the devs working on the Powerwall Dashboard finally restored the per string data that was lost on the last firmware update. Happy to see that info to health check my system due to it's split North/South nature. Crazy how much effort people put into the community and their projects.

Just barely missed it, but our 1 yr PTO anniversary just went by! Made 7,028 kWh of solar during that time vs the 6,748 kWh /yr estimated by Tesla (and 7,059 kWh estimated by PvWatts!). Nice to see how it performed after a year without throttling 🙂 Could've been more if the roof vents had been...

We did better on Wednesday, 29.2 kWh's which is 2 kWh's shy of my personal record. On a side note, who else enjoying the free FSD trial? Been playing it with it all week, so far: 0/5 Home > Work ~22mi commutes without having to disengage (usually when exiting or getting on a turning lane)...

I monitor my PW using Powerwall Dashboard and it has marked small blackouts for when a firmware update gets installed (SoC dropping to 0% etc.). Used to be able to review alerts and other vitals before the December update and the errors would line up with the firmware update. At night I'm on...

Wow really Houston went and banned garage installs? Glad I got mine done when I did but looks like I won’t ever be able to add another PW. Damn things are easy enough to install might just do it on my own eventually.

I’ve disabled storm watch and set reserve to 0%. For these types of thunderstorms that blow by we usually have short outages, and it won’t charge fast enough from the alert going on to make a difference. Not much to fear inside the loop vs our suburbanite buddies.

In other news, got a new family member! My wife finally did a thing and went with an RWD 2024 MY! She will be using it for a few errands and shopping but not much else since she works from home. How long does it take to get a lease return inspected?

For those that have returned leases, did anyone notice if they stay at the SC they're turned in at? Or how quickly the vehicle will show up for sale in inventory? We can't buy at lease end but maybe we can stalk the SC to purchase the vehicle when it hits inventory (just a thought but no idea...

    2022 Model Y - USB Data Ports - USB-A Glovebox Only

Part numbers seem to be all over the place, my original one (non-data) was 1656787-30-A, and I replaced that with a TPARTS data enable one from Amazon last year that now had the USB-C ports fail (no power or data). Contacted the SC and ordered 1755200-00-B for USD 25 which they agreed to bring...

    Mexico Superchargers

    Mexico Superchargers

Does anyone know what happened to the Ramos Arizpe charger between Monterrey and Saltillo? Tesla App/Car Nav and ABRP report it as under repair. Plugshare this month has comments that it can't be used but it was working until November last year. Supercharger.info and Tesla.com/superchargers...

Billing for me matches to the nearest kWh with Amigo Energy. Just got the bill for Meter Dates "12/14 - 01/18" which add up to 733 usage and Smart Meter Texas reports the same 733 for "12/14 - up to 01/18 (until the end of 01/17)". That said, Nights Free does not forgive, with the cold, lack...

Have mine set to 0%! Living on the edge I know but don't expect power outages with this mild weather. Anyone have luck filing their tax returns with the energy credit last year? IRS hasn't finalized the form 5695 for 2023 and can move forward with my return. Were they also late in finalizing...

Perfect day here, maxed out winter production at 20 kWh‘s even for this small system. Really really wish all theroof exhaust vents hadn’t been on the south side of the house, could’ve had double the panels. Even with the north side being bare, panels on that side got hardly any sun. All six...

Indeed, here in the “urban core” we barely hit 30F right now but it’s gonna get real cold tonight. Only managed to eke out 2.2kWh from the sun today, hope tomorrow is better. Running of the PW again right now and as soon as free nights hits, it’ll get topped off to 100%! House has kept warm at...

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

Yup, the sun will help tomorrow. That's the second use case I want to experience with my system, very cold but with solar production. For the current cloudy day and cold, PW was at my 10% reserve by noon. Aux-Heating is tougher than normal heating/cooling because the 1 PW would last me a whole...

Yeah those work chargers were white herrings to entice people to adopt EVs, now that more have they’re removing that perk. Just realized it's been a year with Tesla Solar woooh! Total of 6.1 MWh's generated on a 5.6 kW system even though the first four months were without PTO. Next milestone 1yr of PTO in April. Interestingly, thanks to the EV, the solar offset has only been 47% (from an originally estimated 103%...

Yes, that’s how it looks like for me in the app with TE’s estimates. Only month it shows a credit is when I was on vacation and didn’t charge the EV at all. Overall it’s about half the cost of my previous fixed rate plan before going nights free though. @Jones1 did TE ever offer that EV monthly...

Maybe it's because the system is too large? They do have some verbiage about being limited to 25 kW systems in their buyback agreement: This is the same for Just Energy. Sadly nobody else seems to offer Nights Free with Buyback (I fear this option will disappear completely from the market...
