Vendor Teslaunch Model X/S Gear Shift Stalk Switch Turn Signal Lever Kit🚀GIVEAWAY!

I would be interested in trying them on my 2022 Plaid as well. I would be happy to write a fair and accurate review as well as provide feedback on any areas I see opportunities for improvement. In addition, I'd be willing to let a few people check them out in my car if they are in the Dallas...

Acceleration Boost vs Third Party Hacks

Chill in my Plaid feels about the same as Chill in my M3LR w/boost and about the same as my MSLR and my MYLR w/boost with boost were. There might be some variance but they all seemed pretty close. I imagine Tesla does it on purpose.

How to enable Drag Strip Mode remotely?

Slap a Dragy and see what the difference is for your car. I found on my MSLR it made absolutely no difference what I did for the time. For the Plaid, it isn't worth the difference for me on the street. If I am chasing timeslips, I might worry about it. At the end of the day, whatever makes...

How to enable Drag Strip Mode remotely?

You don't really need it. The car is still super quick even if you don't. It is one of the best no prep, run what you brung, cars I've ever owned. I can promise you your passengers will never know the difference! Likely you won't either but you would see it on your time slip.

What should my ideal charge percentage be?

There is almost no point in doing this, as it just accelerates the deterioration of the battery. Ideally keep your state of charge at about 50-55% and charge up when you need more for the day.

    Charging in the cold

When I put in a scheduled time to charge the car, that is when mine starts charging. I am not talking about preconditioning. If possible, I plan my charging to finish just before I leave. Maybe scheduled departure is working for you and actually charges the car prior to departure. If I use the...

    Charging in the cold

Scheduled departure on pre-conditions the car, doesn't tell the car when to charge. The car charges when you tell it to charge via scheduled charging or whenever you plug it back in. All the battery studies show that high temps with high SOCs are the way to kill the batteries in non-LFP cars...

    Show off/me your wheels

I think there is a long wheel thread somewhere in the S forum. I can't find it at the moment. Here are my 20" Signature wheels in a square fitment so I can rotate my tires easily. I am running 295/35/20 PS4S all around. I had them built to clear my track pack brakes. No clearance or rubbing...

When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

Your experience is precisely why I didn't buy a new 2023 Plaid and went for a very slightly used 2022. The often idiotic approach Tesla has for removing a feature without a fully baked replacement is infuriating at best and sometimes downright dangerous in others. A case in point for the last is...

What should my ideal charge percentage be?

Sounds like Tesla can add it. I'd suggest pulling in the weather forecast and help with the predictions. So far I am just using AI without the A, to manage my charging. It has really paid off for us. Even my wife is finally onboard and just leaves it at 50% to make it easy. With the really cold...

    PPF or not PPF

I am totally on the white bandwagon when it comes to Tesla. I am on my 4th white Tesla. Three of them were purchased in Texas. The other in Florida. The white has held up well. For the MYLR, and its bulbous nose, which is what I ordered first and in Florida, white was really the only way to go...

    Plaid Owners delight !

I was all for my Plaid being stealthy rocking a P75D emblem. Some people actually believed it. That was before I went with the trackpack brakes. Not so stealthy now.

    Charging in the cold

I decided to closely watch the charging of our M3 LR, which has had to sit outside of the garage the last week. This morning I set up charging when it was 12F out. On a Tesla wall charger with 48 amps, the car has been charging at about 4% per hour vs the normal 12%. The max charge the car is...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

I was living working in Russia back when this song came out, a little over 20 years ago. The name of the song, if translated, would be "someone like Putin." See below for links. Obviously pure propaganda as far as I was concerned but damned if it didn't become a hit and top the Russian music...

MYP accelerated rear inner tire wear like MS Plaid - Texas example - check yours

For my Plaid, I didn't need to go with adjustable camber arms to reduce the camber. Basically some shims "adjusted" it enough to take care of it. Perhaps the same approach would work on the 3/Y and be a lot more cost effective. I know had the Macsboost camber kit referenced below in my car and...

HW4 - No Park Assist at all

I really don't get how many people are willing to give Tesla a pass on taking away functionality and replacing it with crap. Sure I got by without parking sensors before. Just because I didn't have them before, doesn't mean I shouldn't want them now. I can apply the same logic to many things...

MYP accelerated rear inner tire wear like MS Plaid - Texas example - check yours

My toe was fine, and it wasn't excessive. Camber can accelerate wear on tires, too, but I did call out the toe as a possible culprit as some S's have had too much toe along with camber. I don't need track specs for a car that isn't tracked that often. My 3 is set up more for track days with MPP...

MYP accelerated rear inner tire wear like MS Plaid - Texas example - check yours

My Plaid had over 2 degrees negative camber. Pretty crazy for a street car. The stiffer sidewall of the very low profile tires with 21's on the S's seem to exacerbate the issue. I don't recall anyone with 19's have the issues as I assume the sidewall allows the tire to roll a bit more so not so...

Dyno Results for Model S refresh LR?

Not that I am aware of. Since dumping my MSLR for the Plaid, I still think about this occasionally. If the gearing is what killed the acceleration off the line, it might not matter what you do to some extent. Looking at the Plaid's power curve, it really mirrors what I felt in acceleration with...

MYP accelerated rear inner tire wear like MS Plaid - Texas example - check yours

I was on the road the other day and tried to get a person to stop. I noticed a troubling wear pattern. The inner edges of the rear tires were worn to the cord, while the outer part was still pretty good. This is very common with the current gen Model S running 21" tires. My MS Plaid, with 21"...

2023 Model Y: Performance vs Acceleration Boost vs Long Range

Why not get a hitch and bike rack for the 3? Problem solved if is only the bike issue. The 3 and Y have about the same length in the boot area but the Y is just a bit taller in due to the hatch. Or screw and just buy an S rather than the MYP. Assuming they have the RHD version there yet. Yet get...

2023 Model Y: Performance vs Acceleration Boost vs Long Range

You are absolutely going to miss the M3P. I hope you have an incredibly compelling reason for going with the MYP. With the small current price deltat the P makes more sense than the MY LR w/boost. Honestly the MY LR should have come with boost from the factory. That should have been the baseline...

What should my ideal charge percentage be?

That is where our M3 LR spends most of the time since new. I basically set it at 50% and charged up above that only when needed and just in time to leave. The car is coming up on 2 years old (Feb) and about 15k miles. It has been in hot temps since new which are worse for the pack. Overall...

Is it worth getting an M3P over the LR at basically the same price?

The M3P is a great option but don't need to hurry to buy unless Tesla is discounting enough to make it worth it. Which right now is borderline as at least next year it will still keep the normal 7500 tax credit unlike the other 3's assuming it isn't a demo. Often Tesla marks them a demo even if...

    2 painful years with a Model S

I was tracking with some of the issues until the small dent was 20k to fix. Even cutting out and replacing, I am still tempted to call BS. That or the shop shafted you. Macboost Installation Reco in Seattle Area?

You can go with camber arms (most expensive option) or something like the Macsboost shim kit or similar alternatives. There is a lot of negative rear camber and it can destroy tires in short order. My first set of rears was gone in 5k miles. There is some debate as to whether it is a tire...

Considering a Plaid...but do you think it's "worth it"?

I am no into to swapping/upgrading my MS LR to MS Plaid and from time to time reflect upon my thoughts of what I thought of my LR. Every so often I put the Plaid in sport mode if I want to relive what it was like (for the most part) of driving the MS LR. It is a pretty close approximation of the...

    I can't decide!! Used S vs new Y

Buy the S. No question in my mind. In the past 2 years I've had the MY LR, M3 LR, MS LR and MS Plaid. The only car of the bunch I regret buying was the MY LR. Never does a day go by that I even remotely miss the Y. Nor does my wife ever miss it either. She likes our 3 better. Comparing directly...

2023 Model Y: Performance vs Acceleration Boost vs Long Range

I am running Michelin PS4S 295/35/20 all around and they work great. Don't know what I am going to run for the winter yet as still well above freezing. Square vs staggered

I've been totally happy with 20" squared. I think you'll be fine going 19" squared. While I like the SV104s, that wheel is pretty played out for me. I see them everywhere. YMMY of course. The rotation aspect and tire warranty are 2 of the biggest pluses for me. The 20's have been a great...

Roof rack vs rear hitch rack for bicycles

A lot of this will vary depending on the rack and bikes you have. There is no one size fits all answer her. The bike rack I had did interfere with the parking sensors, (if your car has them), and I imagine most bike racks will that are horizontal. Again though, each rack is different. Keep in...

    Are bragging rights worth $15k?

It is obvious when you drive them back to back assuming you get up in the upper speed ranges. For a lot of people stuck in a dense urban environment, you might never take advantage of it. I'm going to be odering a Plaid S and I'm requesting opinions of anyone who has the track pack ceramic brake upgrade

No point going with anything other than the factory BBK. As mentioned, the price is reasonable for what you get. The 2 things that absolutely pushed me over the edge was factory warranty and 200 mph unlock. No aftermarket option is going to off that. The more I drive my car with these brakes...

Towing travel trailer with Model Y

Model 3 LR RWD or Model Y LR AWD

This is a great point. Especially if you can't plug in and have to use onboard power to cool/heat the car rather than using shore power to preheat/cool the car. Model 3 LR RWD or Model Y LR AWD

I'd say it depends on what you value. I had an MY LR and it was a practical, but incredibly boring car to drive. The M3 is just so much more fun to drive on a daily basis. The efficiency is far better too. For me the MY was like driving an appliance. I found myself taking the M3 a lot just to go...

[Canada] Looking for advice on buying a used Tesla, is it worth the savings if I'm keeping it long term

FSD is almost worthless. It might add 2k value to the car. There are improvements throughout the years so I'd lean towards the 2022 or 2023. The 2022's will have the parking sensors (USS), the 23's won't. Here are my thoughts assuming all the color combos are comparable and you like them. I'd...

Looks like Taycan prices are dropping rapidly as well

The reason Tayan's prices have fallen is it doesn't appear Porsche is moving them very well. I think you'll continue to see pricing pressure on Taycans. Here is a quote from another website regarding their current sales. "In Q2, Porsche sold 1,635 Porsche Taycan electric cars (all versions)...

    Are bragging rights worth $15k?

The MS LR won't hit the 3.1 claimed 0-60 times. The M3P will beat it all day long to 60 mph if that is what you like. The MS LR launches a lot more softly. While the typical 3.4 sec to 60 seems good on paper, it is lacking the visceral thrill of the launch of the M3P let alone the Plaid. The M3P...
