They send quite a lot of redundant cables. So if you already have a cable connected you don’t need to replace. They apparently don’t have different kits for v1/2/2.5 to v3 so everyone gets the same kit.

Hard to say really. I think it's generally accepted that M3's from 2020 onwards will have the socket ready to go. But I wouldn't actually know when they were being fitted.
