Just waiting to hear on the Wipers dev team. Thoughts and prayers…

    Supercharger team sacked?

Here you go: https://maps.dft.gov.uk/ev-charging-map/index.html North Yorkshire is in the top 20% of the UK. Also, apparently Yorkshire is not the North-East. A bloke from Gateshead told me once, so must be true.

    Supercharger team sacked?

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/may/05/uk-installs-record-number-of-public-electric-vehicle-chargers Article from yesterday. 6,000 new chargers added in UK in first quarter of 2024 taking total to 60,000. The highest rate so far, and a quarter of those are rapids. Led by...

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Yeah!! Go the whole hog and open up everything Musk. I reckon I could totally stick a tail-first landing on a Falcon 9…

LFP Model Y battery drain whilst on Holiday

I use these off-site ‘valet’ parking, like the official Gatwick ones. I use the Tesla app to disable Sentry only once I see that it has been moved to its off-site location. This is often some hours after drop-off in the multi-storey. My logic is that any misdemeanours are going to happen...

I think my headlights are blinding people, are they properly adjusted?

This is the MOT centre or service centre instruction set. https://service.tesla.com/docs/Model3/ServiceManual/en-us/GUID-46D867B1-1956-4EBA-8EF1-C3375E062102.html It assumes a Beissbarth Headlight Tester, Model 815 is being used.

I think my headlights are blinding people, are they properly adjusted?

Here’s the self service procedure https://service.tesla.com/docs/Model3/ServiceManual/en-us/GUID-29CF03C8-9755-42C2-B45B-6B61900806B0.html However, given your concerns- I would dig out a crisp £10 note and go talk nicely to your local, friendly MOT centre and ask them to use their headlamp...

    Keep Right. Ahhhhhhhhhh

Junior salesman’s first quarterly bonus burning a hole in my pocket as I walked down Tottenham Court Road, as I recall.

    Keep Right. Ahhhhhhhhhh

I graduated onto a PocketPC running TomTom in 2003. All plumbed in for charging. Between that and the disembodied voice from the ‘TraficMaster’ it was basically a vision of the future shoehorned into a Vectra SRi 😁

Yours looks like mine, and yet rather than smile, I still find myself wondering “who used the 8 units on-peak!”

    Tow bars

Interesting to note. Incidentally, how would a non-towing capable towbar be indicated to a subsequent owner? Is the vehicle data plate on the door sill (or wherever it is) different on a factory-fitted towing-capable Tesla?

    [UK] 2024.8.x

Also noted this past week that there seemed to be acknowledgment of non-Tesla’s taking up multiple bays in real-time. E.g. ‘16 chargers, 8 vehicles charging, 6 chargers available’ implying a couple of 3rd party vehicles tying up two bays. Could have just been unavailable chargers, but this...

    Intelligent Octopus connection woes

What’s the specificities of the sign-up error? I successfully migrated from Go to Intelligent Go last week, dumb charger and leased Tesla. Skip the remote-key bit, and get to the test charge. Took two goes to get the test charge, but sorted in 10mins.

The year is 2035. How far have we got?

Absolutely agree. My comment was frivolous. The train PoC is an odd application, given trains travel to pre-defined, limited locations via set routes. The electrification of lines via track or o/h cables seems trivial when you’re building out the rail infra anyway. Would love to see hydrogen...

The year is 2035. How far have we got?

It’s 2035 and the car resto tv shows viewing figures have fallen off a cliff. Wheeler Dealers now has the mechanic every week saying “it’s either the battery, the motor or the body computer” before plugging in a laptop. They then have to pad out the remaining 57 minutes.

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

Just moved today from Go to Intelligent Go. Anyone got experience/ knowledge if I need to email separately to get the Export moved from ‘Lite’ 8p/unit to ‘Export’ 15p/unit? Or will Octopus move me over to the higher rate now that I’m eligible? (When we went from Flux to Go, it was automatic)

Tesla reduces output of Y and 3 in Shanghai

This would appear to be the most environmentally friendly approach. On the flip side, we’re on our third BEV. The previous Tesla is on the road somewhere still, so someone is ‘doing their bit’ and driving a BEV rather than ICE The car before that was a petrol-hybrid, so someone is driving that...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

Yep, finally reaching the point where we export more than we import (albeit the cars have hardly moved last week so minimal charging). Now starts the conundrum of if and when to switch back from Go to Flux🤔 I’m yet to find a comparison app that also supports Export (neither OctoAid nor Compare...

Improvement ideas for Superchargers - and who to contact?

    [UK] 2024.8.x

As an aside, I saw that ‘before and after’ example on notateslapp.com also and thought how unhelpful if was. One is Santa mode on a day background, and the other is night/dark mode! Also signalling in the opposite direction 🤷‍♂️

I know exactly the lighting spread that you refer to, with the uptick to the left that will sweep across oncoming traffic as the road bends. The surprising thing for me is that I’ve never been flashed, or indeed had any car in front show annoyance. Whilst it’s clearly throwing light in that...

    Renew your EV Road Tax

Ahh, ‘Fiscal Drag’ our chancellor’s not-so-secret weapon to balance the books. Seems he’s realised that people actually like the idea that they drive a ‘luxury’ car or have become so successful that they qualify for higher-rate income tax. That or we feel churlish complaining about such things...

Finally getting second EV - any hints?

It’s great for around town and parking. I’ll steal hers in preference to the MY if heading to the shops. It also turns in the width of the road thanks to better steering lock and v short wheelbase unlike the MY barge.

Finally getting second EV - any hints?

@Drew57 . Your story did take me back to my recollection of the Stellantis dealership that we dealt with when buying the 500e. Left me feeling that the death of the physical franchise model can’t come soon enough. If they make a car-themed version of The Office, they could start there for...

Aww, you didn’t get the soft-top? Love ours (La Prima convertible in Ocean Green/Blue). Even got the roof down on Saturday when I was allowed to steal it for a run to the shops:) Cracking little car, and my wife gets some quite sensible longer journeys out of it with a stop for a cuppa and a...

EVSE died after 7years and 23MWh. Low cost dumb EVSE replacement recommendations ?

Out of interest, @KennethS did you set these up with the internal ‘master/slave’ so that they don’t both max out at the same time? I have one Gen2 and also a 3rd party ‘Easy Wallbox’ that’s hobbled to 2.4kW. It’s always been on my to-do list to swap out my non-Tesla charger for another Gen2 and...

    Matrix headlights - finally???

Was there an update that officially declared it improved the lights or introduced an auto-calibration? Reason I ask is I drove in the dark yesterday immediately after I’d done a software update. It may be just because I’d been reading this thread, but I thought ‘uh,oh - these lights look set a...

    Matrix headlights - finally???

I’m wondering if any roll out of matrix functionality via OTA updates to the legacy fleet will first require a ‘proper’ calibration and levelling of the existing system. It’d be no good turning on and off individual pixels if they’re pointed in random directions. Whether this could be...

    Inaccurate temperature readings

Agree. We have a number of the light-up speed signs locally now, they typically show 29mph as I trundle past with cc set to 30 in the MY. My previous Lexus was comedic in its speed under reporting, took a while to realise why I was being overtaken in 40mph areas for dawdling. Still it was...

    [UK] 2023.44

I keep hopefully putting mine into Car Wash Mode. Come back 30 minutes later and it’s still filthy. Can’t see any difference whatsoever. Must be another one of those features that works great in California, but gets nerfed for those of us in the UK.

Which wider tyres for uber turbines?

Can’t help with a specific, I’m still running the OEMs. I did have some amazing Dunlops on my Lexus that had the most incredible kerb protection built-in. There was a rubber lip that protruded slightly, and it folded over the rim upon kerb impact. Saved me half a dozen times at least from...

    [UK] 2023.44

There are a couple of junctions on the M40 northbound that have caused this behaviour in my car since I got it in late 2022 when using AP. The force required to correct the cars trajectory was sufficient to cancel AP, and has occasionally also triggered the car to slow abruptly. As it was...

    MYLR all season tyres

Sadly it never matters in the South-East. One turbodiesel rwd German marque will come to a halt on a slight incline. Then another identical machine will attempt to go around them, bouncing off the rev limiter, and block the other lane. Other than the occasional Yaris or Panda passing via the...

    Dashcam button timing

Anyone know what happens if you were to press the button again 2 minutes after you honk the horn (or pressed the button immediately after the event)? Do you then get 8 mins prior to incident; the incident; then the 2 minutes after? I‘d check myself, but it’s coooold out there;)

Daft Times anti-EV article of the day

It’s lazy journalism that allows this stuff to go unchecked and unchallenged. Yesterday all the major papers were quoting the Chancellor verbatim with his cute “… and domestic oil and gas is four times cleaner than imported oil and gas.” Anyone that paid even a cursory interest in GCSE or...

    Model X - Y : up or downgrade??

Interesting 🤔 I had naively assumed the air suspension in the X would be superior in every case.
