Great points.
What I had in mind was things like the stiff power cord which is difficult to maneuver around the poorly placed bollards and the cabinet and bend to meet the car. Also so many ways for things to go wrong given the number of steps, no instructions, extra hardware, and no feedback...
Good grief it takes a lot of tricks and futzing to get CCS to work!
Tesla mobile service did a fine job installing the retrofit, and the technician was right to have me test L2 charging before calling it done. Next you should to test CCS charging and set up the needed app(s).
CCS lessons:
*...
The "Connect" button on the screen is just for the BT phone/text/audio/contacts connection. If that won't connect, you can try re-pairing it, but indeed it might point to a BT hardware problem requiring service.
By "reconnecting" do you mean deleting and re-adding the phone-as-key connection? That can help.
Also search for relevant threads with tips like not having the phone in your back pocket when approaching the car. A thread or two suggested renaming your phone's bluetooth if needed to remove...
Tesla software 2024.14.6 has a Playlist option in the Bluetooth section of the audio controls.
Any clues on how to make and use a bluetooth playlist? (I'm not finding anything in the Owner's manual, TMC, or the web.)
It'd be great to have the touchscreen select from the Pocket Casts queue and...
The car doesn't remember the playback position into more than the current audio source, unless 2024.14 fixes that, but 2024.14 does make it easier to drag the playback position.
Good point! So Samsung's downloadable brochure or spec sheet says their T5 and T7 SSDs handle 0℃ to 60℃ = 32°F to 140...
2024.14.6 fixes the problem where you try to skip back 2 steps in your Bluetooth podcast stream and instead the car would switch audio sources. It was rather disorienting.
That bug bit me earlier today. Now I have the fix!
For music + dash/sentry cam video, I use a Samsung 500GB portable external drive. It's plenty. I allocated maybe 80% for video. camelcamelcamel says the T7 varied in price $50 - $95 over the last 3 years.
Note: The car has no "safely remove drive" feature so be sure to pause SentryCam before...
This part of the UI is confusing. (BTW my 2020 M3 is now good at detecting which phone key is unlocking the driver's door.)
Each phone key can be set to select a driver profile, and each driver profile can have a preferred BT device to connect to for phone calls, text messages, and streaming...
Welcome to the club!
Premium connectivity is also great for traffic info.
You can use an SSD in place of a thumb drive. Either way, get a large capacity drive and format a partition for music and a partition for sentry cam. There are forum posts on how to set up the partitions, the audio file...
FSDS drives 42 MPH in a 35 MPH speed trap zone here (near Tesla's Palo Alto engineering offices) and drifts left onto the double yellow line, both mistakes requiring overrides.
It sticks to the right side in a concrete funnel merge, which dangerously invites oncoming traffic to pass you amid...
Yes! That would be the right thing to do, and communicating that info would be great ADAS for regular driving.
But it isn't the "end-to-end neural net" way.
The electric utility might provide a free house battery for someone with a medical need for more reliable power.
BTW a device like a file server still needs a UPS to avoid a short break in the power when the solar system cuts over to the house battery.
Per Fast Company, https://www.fastcompany.com/91116917/elon-musk-tesla-charging-network-layoffs
The company wants to be valued as a growth company, so these two growth areas would seem desirable.
About charger utilization: There must be a lot of fixed cost to build a supercharger station. So...
My workaround was to add a contact with my wife's name misspelled the way the voice recognition software requires. It's goofy and I'd rather see the bug fixed.
I tried other hacks like adding the required spelling in the "phonetic name" contact field (does that need to use the phonetic...
In northern California, sites (like the one on Loucks Ave in Los Altos) can wait many months for a PG&E connection to the grid as a consequence of PG&E layoffs. (More info in the relevant sub-forum.)
Surely Tesla was pushing on PG&E and negotiating.
Good. Last I checked, the parts weren't available for the CCS/NACS retrofit.
The best case scenario on this layoff would be Tesla contacting out the site selection and construction of new Supercharger stations, and other SC teams unaffected.
A PR dept. would give reassuring info to current and...
Remember to push the right scroll wheel and speak your feedback after taking control from FSDS.
I did this frequently when testing it. The software is not yet skilled at defensive driving techniques like slowing down and moving away from little kids on the edge of the curb.
Did we mention this yet? I'd really like to increase the TACC follow range to a relaxed following distance on the freeway. This leaves room for drivers to change lanes, room to react, and room to gently/efficiently adjust to traffic variations.
Please don't. Road rage is not good for anyone, and people have various reasons to yield the right-of-way, such as not trusting drivers in Paris, or having a better view than a driver backing out of a driveway into the street.
Yes, also the local traffic laws and culture around running red...
BTW, I mentioned the LG dryer model number because there are few full size few heat pump dryers. Smaller dryers have been around a long time but won't keep up the pipeline with most U.S. washing machines.
There's a Samsung HP dryer that's pretty expensive and a Whirlpool dryer with a...
Indeed, it looks like plenty of odometers but with 1 tracking all-time, 1 current drive, and 1 since the last charge, that leaves only 1. Mine is set to track efficiency since installing CrossClimate 2 tires, leaving none available to track a trip!
We got an LG DLHC5502W heat pump dryer a couple weeks ago. It's energy report shows each cycle using only 0.24 - 1.7 kWh.
And since it's ventless, it doesn't pump indoor air to the outside. That saves heating/cooling replacement air.
Ditto. I put in a battery to ride out the increasingly frequent outages. It also has "psychic rewards" for helping reduce peaker-plant pollution and rolling blackouts. It reduces peak TOU use but I don't try to calculate the $ROI.
I did try to calculate the marginal cost of electricity to...
* With a battery and a backup interface to cut over to it in a grid outage, the solar panels can stay online, powering the house and battery indefinitely, if you don't use too much energy.
I don't know if all solar + battery systems can do that. Our Solar Edge system can but I hope to not have...
Per How to use Chrome extensions on an Android browser

Try this:
* The lock chime file must be 1 MB or smaller (the actual size limit might be smaller) in .wav file format (not just ".wav" filename extension). Make it mono with a 32 kHz or 44.1 kHz sampling rate.
* Pause the Dash cam on Controls > Sentry, Long-press the Dashcam icon.

Try this extension: Animation Policy from Google.
You can set it to {Allow animated images, Allow one shot, Disable them}.
In the second setting, the one shot might happen before you scroll to see that image. Suits me.
Supposedly, Brave can install Chrome extensions.
BTW this won't affect...
This is more manual but you can use the Chrome dev tools feature Inspect Element to select and delete an animated image (or column of distracting ads) from a page.
Brave is built on Chromium so it should have the same dev tools.
15 years ago the question was how much time the driver would have to react if the car hands over control in a case it can't handle. Now I see the bigger issue is grabbing control before the car does something bad or when the car does something risky. So you have to be a driving instructor with a...
At least on a car that hasn't subscribed to EAP and has 2024.3.10, the choices are
TACC
Autopilot: can choose single-pull or double-pull for Autopilot; in the latter case can use TACC
SFSD: always single-pull, TACC is not available
Which software version does your car have? Did this notification arrive afterwards?
Unofficial release notes for 2024.3.10 lists FSD (Supervised), Auto Park, etc.:
https://www.notateslaapp.com/software-updates/version/2024.3.10/release-notes
While official release notes just say "This release...
Weird. In a test, turning off Auto Cancel restored the 3 blink feature. Then I re-enabled Auto Cancel, so half press again starts blinking until it cancels or I do.
If it never worked, that suggests a hardware problem.
If it worked until the last software update, maybe reinstalling that update would fix the microcontroller for the stalks.
In case the Owner's Manual (2024.2.4) text helps (unfortunately it assumes a stalkless car):
The "holding" bit (long-press?) is news to me.
There's no mention the 3-blink feature! Does that feature still work? Stalks only?
The previous Owner's Manual, 2023.44.30, says:
