Just got my car updated. It looks like they didn’t charge me anything to update the software configuration since I already had the HEPA filter installed.

Update: the service center just updated my estimate to only $12.75 now. I told them I already had the hardware installed and this is the cost of just a software update now. Still waiting to see if they can just push it to my car remotely though

My appointment is scheduled for the 6th. I’m asking them if I can change it to a mobile service appointment instead. I already the hardware installed and just need the software updated. Hopefully they can make that part easy

Same here with 6/20 build date and retrofitted a while back. If you have any luck with getting Tesla to update your software to reflect the retrofit, please report back. I haven't tried recently, but I bombarded them with this request a while back so I'm hesitant to annoy them again.

Oh no, that sucks!! Sorry that happened! I think that’s the same tool I got on Amazon and mine worked luckily. I’m not 100% sure but you might just be able to drill out the entire rivnut and then just insert a new one (with a new tool obviously).

The data cable on the old console works fine. Just pull it out and connect it to the new module and route it through the bottom of the console. Then once you install the new console you’ll connect it to the other end that stays in the car.

The module on my console 1.0 was usb A ports. The 2.0 is usb C ports so it won’t fit correctly. I’m not sure exactly when they switched to usb C ports but yours are probably usb A like mine if I had to guess

I didn’t bother to do this but I also read somewhere that someone was able to do this. If I remember correctly they just had to contact Tesla and request it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they say no with their usual response being there is no official retrofit so they won’t change any car settings.

There are several companies that sell the usb module with the data port. From what I hear, they all seem to be working fine so it doesn't seem necessary to get the OEM part for this. I'm using the Tparts module and haven't had any issues.

Forget my post above. This won’t work. The metal is way too thin. The newer cars that have existing threads appear to have a threaded insert welded from underneath. Looks like rivet nuts are the way to go.
