    2021 Center Console Retrofit

Does your current setup have data in the console or just in the glovebox? If you already have data in the console, then you don't need to run the new USB cable. When you pull out the console, you'll disconnect the existing USB cable. Basically half of it stays in the car and half of it get...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Just got my car updated. It looks like they didn’t charge me anything to update the software configuration since I already had the HEPA filter installed.

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Update: the service center just updated my estimate to only $12.75 now. I told them I already had the hardware installed and this is the cost of just a software update now. Still waiting to see if they can just push it to my car remotely though

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

My appointment is scheduled for the 6th. I’m asking them if I can change it to a mobile service appointment instead. I already the hardware installed and just need the software updated. Hopefully they can make that part easy

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Same here with 6/20 build date and retrofitted a while back. If you have any luck with getting Tesla to update your software to reflect the retrofit, please report back. I haven't tried recently, but I bombarded them with this request a while back so I'm hesitant to annoy them again.

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Oh no, that sucks!! Sorry that happened! I think that’s the same tool I got on Amazon and mine worked luckily. I’m not 100% sure but you might just be able to drill out the entire rivnut and then just insert a new one (with a new tool obviously).

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Honestly, it's probably fine to cut off the alignment pins. I'm not even sure why they're needed. The primary holes to mount the filter will align everything just fine and it won't move once it's tightened down. I drilled the holes for the alignment pins (and the primary mounting holes), but...

    Snippiness 2.0

I honestly used to like reading some of the things you would post, but you have become very annoying. Please stop bickering with everyone and let the threads get back on topic.

    FSD Beta v11.x

I just download 11.3.6 the other day and took it for a drive. I was making an unprotected left turn. When the light turned green, the intersection was clear and the car could have gone twice. There was an oncoming car coming from far away and it decided to wait, so I just let it do its thing. As...

    Vendor Official Tessie app talk

Hey James. It looks like most of the watch apps that now use bluetooth require the app to open before it can connect to the car. I just read somewhere that the Stats app created a way around this so it doesn't require the app to open on the watch first (just walk up to the car and it...

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

The data cable on the old console works fine. Just pull it out and connect it to the new module and route it through the bottom of the console. Then once you install the new console you’ll connect it to the other end that stays in the car.
  12. C

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

The module on my console 1.0 was usb A ports. The 2.0 is usb C ports so it won’t fit correctly. I’m not sure exactly when they switched to usb C ports but yours are probably usb A like mine if I had to guess
  13. C

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

I used that same Tparts module. If you have sentry data working in the center console right now then you have the data cable. It’s only for newer cars where they removed the data cable since data is wired to the glovebox usb for sentry instead. I did the install myself. You’ll be in the exact...

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

It seems like a lot but it’s really not bad at all and it’s a nice upgrade. The old console just feels clunky and like a big piece of plastic with those stupid lids covering the storage and phone charging. The new one seems much cleaner and sleek. Obviously personal preference but I’m really...

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

You will need to get a new usb module that supports data (the 2.0 console comes with a module but it doesn't have a port to connect the data cable). Other than that and the console, you will have everything that you need. All you need to do is pull the existing console out, swap out the card...

    Vendor Official Tessie app talk

Thanks James. I thought that might be the case. I've used the Tesla API in the past and it was always a total pain in the butt. The Tessie API is much easier to use, but I would have to go back to the annoying Tesla API for the solar data. If you ever think about tackling this and need any...

    Vendor Official Tessie app talk

This might be a very stupid request, but I thought I would check. Tessie is by far the best app I've used. I recently had Tesla solar panels installed, with backup gateway 2 and three powerwalls. Have you given any thought to adding solar functionality in a separate app or in a separate section...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

Hahaha, it's always coming next week. We'll all be on our deathbeds and wishing for one more week just so we can test V11 because Elon said it was almost ready.

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

Why is everyone getting so upset over what the fix is called? Recall, software update...why does anyone care? I've received several letters in the mail from Tesla over the years saying my car was subject to a recall which has been corrected with an OTA update. Why wasn't anyone making a fuss...

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

I didn’t bother to do this but I also read somewhere that someone was able to do this. If I remember correctly they just had to contact Tesla and request it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they say no with their usual response being there is no official retrofit so they won’t change any car settings.

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Quick update...I give up! Just had mobile service out to replace the cabin air filters. I asked if he could connect to toolbox and change the vehicle configuration to have the HEPA filter. He said those changes require someone higher up to approve it and I should schedule a service appointment...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

I've been chatting with Tesla regarding my mobile service appointment. They denied my request to have the vehicle configuration updated in the software to reflect the HEPA filter. They said there is no retrofit available for this and they will not change the configuration. I told them I...

    Help with white interior cleaning

I have those too. I'm pretty sure it's not a stain that you can get rid of. It just seems to be wrinkles/normal wear of the material. Black seats are prone to it also. It seems to be normal and you'll probably find the same thing on any leather/vegan leather car seat that gets frequent use if...

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

Hmm, so I guess there is no way to know whether they are using the automotive grade one or not. That's strange they have the same markings. Thanks for looking and pulling up the data sheets!
  25. C

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

Interesting. I just opened the OEM one that doesn't have the data port. Could you reference any of the data sheets for this and see if it specifies automative grade.

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

To be fair, the disclosure states they are not responsible for failures when the products are used in a manner that exceed what they are rated for. I would be surprised if every disclosure from every manufacturer didn't state similar disclosures to reduce their liability. Do you know what...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

That’s really crappy. We’re paying them for the hardware, they agree to sell it to us, yet they can’t click a couple buttons on their computer so the software will match the hardware. Are they expecting us to trade in for a new model just because of this? Really dumb. I haven’t even heard back...

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

You had mentioned that before but is there any evidence that these aftermarket parts are bad for the car? Everyone plugs a bunch of aftermarket parts into their cars that are made from china: cheap usb drives, game controllers, usb hubs, etc and I've never heard of any problems stemming from...

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

There are several companies that sell the usb module with the data port. From what I hear, they all seem to be working fine so it doesn't seem necessary to get the OEM part for this. I'm using the Tparts module and haven't had any issues.

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Update for anyone interested. I picked up the parts today and installed the HEPA filter on my 2020 Model Y. Here are some thoughts: 1) I had zero problems getting the parts. Simply requested the parts through the app, schedule a service appointment for next Monday, and then followed up early to...

I paid full price for this car, why am I forced to deal with so many ads?

I can't believe what I saw this morning. I witnessed a Tesla drive right by me. Get this, the car still had the Tesla logos on it!!! I didn't opt in to seeing cars with 1% of Tesla's logo advertisements all over it. It was extremely upsetting and distracting to the critical functions of driving...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Forget my post above. This won’t work. The metal is way too thin. The newer cars that have existing threads appear to have a threaded insert welded from underneath. Looks like rivet nuts are the way to go.
  33. C

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Out of curiosity, has anyone who doesn’t have existing threads in the bolt holes tried tapping the holes to add threads? This would be an alternative to using rivet nuts. I’m wondering if this might be an easier and cheaper alternative. Any pros or cons to this?

Superhydrophobic Camera Cover for Model 3 & Y

I just installed this. It was cheap and I figured why not give it a try? We got a lot of rain in CA recently and it was a PITA anytime I needed to back up. Now it just so happened that I installed it and we have no rain anymore so no clue how well it actually works. I can say that it doesn’t...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Good luck! I was just able to buy the new console 2.0 from the service center and retrofit that. They initially said it's not compatible. I ensured them that it was and the SA went back to the parts department and they agreed the second time around. No more pushback after that, so I'm hoping the...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Update for anyone interested. I ordered parts and approved the invoice. The parts they ordered for me are: REAR APRON, HEPA, MY. (1619812-00-B) DUCT, AIR INTAKE, MY (1499137-99-C) HEPA FILTER. (1495167-96-B) The hepa filter does seem to have an updated part number now (1495167-96-B). Hopefully...

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

You're going to need to buy three things: 1) The new console 2) An adapter for the blue connector in the back. One end of the connector remains in the car and it won't fit into other side of the connector that is pre-installed in the new console. A picture of this is a few posts above and I'm...

I paid full price for this car, why am I forced to deal with so many ads?

I now understand what OP is talking about. I had a flat tire and tesla gave me a low tire pressure warning on the screen...Clearly that was an advertisement trying to sell me a new tire. Damn you Tesla!
  39. C

I paid full price for this car, why am I forced to deal with so many ads?

I don’t even see the ad in that photo. Are you talking about the upgrades tab at the end? Why would anyone not want to see what upgrades are available for their car? Btw, you’re completely free to ignore that tab entirely and the car still works fine. Absolutely nothing critical about it like...

I paid full price for this car, why am I forced to deal with so many ads?

Ditto to this. I’ve never seen a single add on the screen inside my car. I don’t even get them in the mobile app. OP might want to make a service appointment because his car clearly has a virus.

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

No, I replaced the usb hub in the console with this: https://smile.amazon.com/TPARTS-Center-Transmission-Recovery-Charging/dp/B09YQ391FD There are a few companies that make these. The usb hubs that come built into the new center console do not support data which is needed for sentry. It...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Awesome. Thanks for posting that. I’ll just ask for the same part numbers from his video. Does everything stay in place okay with just the bolts when you don’t use the positioning pins/holes? Do you think the retrofit is worth it now that you have it done?
  44. C

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

I was thinking about giving this a try for my 2020 Model Y and seeing if they'll order the parts for me. I'll need to use rivnuts and drill the holes for the alignment tabs. However, I notice that one of the parts is no longer showing in Tesla's parts catalog. Specifically HEPA, DUCT, MY...

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

For anyone who is interested, here is an update after completing the console retrofit (this is for my Model Y, but everything is exactly the same including the same part number). 1) The first thing I noticed is that the existing console was missing a bolt to hold it in place. I just placed a...

    Wind intrusion

Not sure if this could be related. I had a very annoying whistle at highway speeds that I would hear by the driver’s side window and windshield. I took it in to get serviced and took the guy for a ride to confirm it. They ended up replacing part 1495632-00-B which is the black triangular part of...

Interior carpet panel trim clip for centre console 1067403-00-A

I just noticed that happened to one of mine. Thanks for the tip. I’ll try a heat gun to straighten it back out. Thanks for the link. I’ll give those a try if I can’t get a replacement. I’ve only pulled the side panel off the console once and noticed a clip that broke in half. I can’t see how I...

Interior carpet panel trim clip for centre console 1067403-00-A

    2021 Center Console Retrofit

Thank you. What do you mean about the ducting piece for the rear HVAC? The 2.0 console part number (1755503-00-A) is exactly the same for both Model 3 and Y so everything should be identical and not need to be swapped, right? I've read other people posting about doing this in Model Y but never...
