100% range on new Model Y LR with 3 miles on it calculates to 301 miles

Given full charge capacity is reported as nearly 82kWh, this seems to be a case of an adjustment to rated efficiency rather than a battery capacity defect. Rated range doesn't really matter to me. I actually prefer the lower rated range so that it is closer to real world. This is a curiosity...

Thinking about a used 2022 Model Y, a few questions

I wouldn’t worry about the brake lubrication. Just make sure the brakes work as expected and don’t make and weird noises or vibrations.

100% range on new Model Y LR with 3 miles on it calculates to 301 miles

Tessie with direct telemetry enabled (Uses Tesla's new fleet API). Assuming this lines up with the CAN data 1 to 1 but haven't actually confirmed myself.

100% range on new Model Y LR with 3 miles on it calculates to 301 miles

BMS indicates 81.74 kWh after a full charge to 100% for me now. So it’s definitely the same 82 kWh nominal battery as previous years. And as expected, we max out at 304 miles still.

Some new data from research on Tesla model 3 cells

60% is a convenience thing (and I'll often do more like 70-80%). I don't plug in at home daily. Daily drives are very short (few miles at most) but I usually will charge before I anticipate a longer trip the following day. So by the time I return from a round trip to the suburbs, I'm back at the...

Some new data from research on Tesla model 3 cells

Assuming I'm not actually able to skip a stop on the first leg (which is often the case, either due to SC placement or bladders), we're talking about a few minutes of charging time. So the convenience factor is minimal either way. Agreed its not worth stressing over if full charging allows me to...

Some new data from research on Tesla model 3 cells

This is always my question. Leaving for a roadtrip tomorrow. Am I better off charging to 100%, letting the car sit for 12+ hours at 100%, and supercharging a little less? Or doing my usual charge-to-60% and supercharging a little more? I previously would do a 90% charge instead of 100%, but now...

    Musked out of referral points

Anyone else planning on using their referral points just to have them disappear? They said they were shutting down the referral program April 30. I assumed we'd still be able to redeem our points! Mine had said they had a 2025 expiration in-app because I just earned them with my car purchase 30...

Selling my car tomorrow, factory reset greyed out. What all do I need to delete?

Cloud profile was deleted from the car when I performed the transfer. Car rebooted with the Tesla logo. Got a message on the screen indicating that FSD subscription was removed. I didn’t check on the factory reset availability, though I probably should have. But my profile being removed took...

Selling my car tomorrow, factory reset greyed out. What all do I need to delete?

Perfect, thank you for the detailed response. Figured it was something along these lines. I'm handing off the car shortly, so not sure I'll have time to go through this processes. My plan is to do the account transfer when we meet up and see if that unlocks the ability to do the factory reset...

Selling my car tomorrow, factory reset greyed out. What all do I need to delete?

Yep, removed the added driver, so now it's only the primary account (mine) with access to the car.

Selling my car tomorrow, factory reset greyed out. What all do I need to delete?

Tried both connected to WiFi and not (says WiFi or LTE in the manual, so shouldn't matter). Tried phone key and with the key card in the center console position, no luck 🤷‍♂️

Selling my car tomorrow, factory reset greyed out. What all do I need to delete?

The instructions in the app indicate that a factory reset is needed before transferring in the app.

Selling my car tomorrow, factory reset greyed out. What all do I need to delete?

All the favorites seem to be attached to my cloud profile, so I think once it disappears I should be safe. No way to sign out of cloud profiles on the car as far as I can tell. They automatically appear for any Tesla account associated with the car.

Selling my car tomorrow, factory reset greyed out. What all do I need to delete?

My factory reset option is greyed out (see pic below). Other threads here and on reddit indicate that this may have something to do with FSD Beta + FSD subscription, and that the only way past it is to bring the car into a service center to have them reset it. I'm selling the car private party...

    Sold 2018 Model 3 LR RWD, 103k miles, $21,500 or $17,500 w/ tax credit

Sold! ($20,500 - $4k used ev credit for anyone following along at home wondering what these sell for these days). I'll wait to give a full review once the car is handed over and title transfer is complete, but so far KeySavvy has been phenomenal.

100% range on new Model Y LR with 3 miles on it calculates to 301 miles

Huh, ok. So degradation threshold is higher despite EPA tested capacity being lower & initial capacity potentially being a little lower as well? And the 302? max displayed range appears to be at the degradation threshold, meaning that the lower than expected rated range is unrelated to initial...

100% range on new Model Y LR with 3 miles on it calculates to 301 miles

100% range on new Model Y LR with 3 miles on it calculates to 301 miles

Degradation threshold is the point at which full charge range begins decreasing, correct? Do we know what that is yet for the 2024 models? So if I understand correctly, for 2023 LR, 330=79kWh. For 2024, 304? = 79kWh?
  25. T

100% range on new Model Y LR with 3 miles on it calculates to 301 miles

My new 2024 is doing this too. I thought they just changed the efficiency factor. But apparently batteries are being delivered with 79kWh instead of 82 as previously? AND this is less than the quoted 310 miles of EPA range, with all cars actually being delivered at about 2% less? How is that...

Deciding Between older Model S or Newer Model 3

Just responded to someone else on this specific subject, so I'll quote that below. I personally think Model 3 is absolutely the way to go here if the size/body style of the Model 3 meets your needs. Also, if you want a non-fleet-owned Model 3 for a reasonable price, consider mine! :) 2018 Model...

Is this Model S a good deal or keep looking?

Going to promote my own listing here ($17,500 after tax credit, which mine definitely does qualify for), but I think unless there's a good reason that you want the larger size/hatchback of the Model S, that a used Model 3 is going to be a better bet in your price range. You get newer...

Expired WTB: model 3 performance or LR with FSD near Kansas city, MO [Expired]

100k miles and no FSD, so I know this isn't exactly what you are looking for, but my 2018 LR RWD still charges to 289 miles. No front motor means the car feels more nimble than the AWD models. Anyways, if you decide you're interested in getting into something a little cheaper my listing is here...

    Sold 2018 Model 3 LR RWD, 103k miles, $21,500 or $17,500 w/ tax credit

Bump, price dropped to $21,500 (= $17,500 with Keysavvy if you qualify for the tax credit). There's a lot of idiots on FB marketplace, would wayyy rather sell to someone on here who knows what they are buying! Here's the listing on Autotrader with more pics

Are there any radar detector mounts for the Model Y?

Anyone know where this wire goes? I'd prefer to know what circuit I'm pulling power from before I start randomly tapping wires 😬

    CCS Retrofit Availability (2023)

Updated with the $117 charge removed. Guess it was just a mistake. My vehicle is a 2018 Model 3 btw. So this would have been a "bundle of wires" vehicle.

AC Desiccant Bag replacement service cost

Less frequent use would definitely explain 6 yrs for non-heatpump Model 3 vs 4 years for those with heatpump. Doing some googling and there's quite a few theads with folks questioning why this is required, but few answers. It's just a matter of time until an engineer who works on one of these...

    CCS Retrofit Availability (2023)

Just got my estimate and it includes a weird $117 charge to "Inspect Vehicle; Vehicle Already Configured For CCS Charging". Guessing this is just a mistake and they'll remove it, will update here once I confirm.

AC Desiccant Bag replacement service cost

Hmm, maybe incompatibility with the oil used in electric compressors then causing an issue? I don't get why they would function differently than your standard automotive A/C compressor. I also wonder if the difference is just that with A/C being an essential part of the drivetrain now...

AC Desiccant Bag replacement service cost

Just got an estimate for A/C service (desiccant bag replacement) from Tesla service in St Louis for $367.50 (before tax). Seems reasonable given what the service is. Just some other comments after reading through this thread: THIS SERVICE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SMELLY A/C ISSUE! It's...

Anyone else seeing "No delivered cars on your account" error now?
  41. T

    CCS Retrofit Availability (2023)

Unfortunately for older Model 3s like mine, I’d need the bundle of wires” with resistors that fake a sensor in the charge port. There’s been reports on here of charging faults on Superchargers in certain temperature conditions following this hack.
  42. T

    CCS Retrofit Availability (2023)

Wow, $100 cheaper is a nice bonus for waiting so long. I’m still unable to add to cart as others indicate, but progress!

Does Model 3 ever heat the battery when parked? Conflicting info.

Well just as soon as I posted that it went back to sleep haha. About 6 hours of wake time. I’m wondering if the 12V charging logic pushes a lot lower power into that battery when it’s cold to avoid damage. Already on 44.30.8 and not connected to wifi so don’t think updates are a factor here.

Does Model 3 ever heat the battery when parked? Conflicting info.

Interestingly my Model 3 just woke itself from sleep after it’s usual 17 or so hour sleep cycle, but has been awake for over 6 hours now. The car did something similar earlier this week, but fell back asleep after a quick drive cycle. Based on range loss over the past 6 hours, it seems to only...

OBDLink is now powered while car is sleeping

Did you ever test the consumption of the OBDLink? I don't drive daily, and street park (no home charging), so minimizing phantom drain is a priority for me. Could unplug the OBDLink and re-plug only when needed if it's substantial, although that's kind of annoying.
