You claim to have owned 4 Tesla's? NO ONE who has actually owned a Tesla would claim it takes 2x as long on a road trip. First, how many miles are you driving in a day - with a car full of kids? A 500 mile 1 way road trip would require 2 - 3 stops. 1-2 bathroom breaks and 1 lunch stop...
Not sure if you need excuses, but you do need accurate information. NO ONE is turning a 5-6 hour trip into a 7-8 hour trip driving a BEV. A 6 hour trip going 70 mph is 420 miles. The easiest way to do that would be stop after @ 3hours for a 15 minute bathroom break and charge. And then stop...
Of course no one "needs" a Plaid. The LR has more then enough power. Having said that, bragging rights are worth something? I agree that the 6 seater is not as practical - for hauling. But for transportation of 4 people it is the nicest most elegant solution. So that has to come down to...
And of course you can simply adjust your withholdings for the year or quarterly estimates to make up for it doing the year or real quick - stop withholding all together for the first $7500.
I took delivery last Wednesday FUSC transferred smoothly within the hour of delivery. I did text Tesla in my communications about the delivery and they confirmed I had "accepted" the transfer and was good to go.
Actually you can charge up to 100%. You do not want to have the car sit around @100%. But if you are charging up for an immediate long distance trip you would be good to go.
Actually 320 miles when not towing will be @250 real world. Except that is assuming you actually start at 100% charge and go to 0%. In reality you will rarely go below 20% so subtract the last 50 miles, gives you @200 miles real world usable range or less since you also rarely start off at 100%.
Interestingly there are several here from California who ordered Plaids' in September and were all getting VIN's days before me - despite ordering 1 month before. My guess is they built a bunch of Plaid's recently to fulfill those orders. Just set up delivery for this Wednesday.
Well it is a 428..... new build, so less chance for a rejection. And starting 12/2 I was receiving EDD's of 12/2 - 12/23 that got updated everyday, then on 12/7 moved to 12/7 - 12/24. So it would appear it was in the plan. It probably also helps that the delivery center is 2 hours from the...
Ouch. Not sure about Texas, but in California if you put a deposit down on a car it is fully refundable if the deal does not go through. I thought that is why Tesla changed the $250 to an "order fee". Other than that I do not believe they would be able to get any transportation, remarking etc...

True, but I did keep my 2014 C7 when I bought my 2022 C8 because my C7 has a 7 speed manual transmission - something they don't make anymore - and never will again. But it wasn't for collectibility per se. Just sometimesI like to take it and row the gears.
Well perhaps it is good news they adjusted both my beginning and end dates. Maybe it is not simply a computer on auto pilot, but someone looking at production attempting real estimates.
As someone above said, Tesla is a tech company. It should be easy for them to confirm if a particular vehicle qualifies for this offer. Their agents told this person it qualifies. Tesla should get their act together or pay for the "mistake".
Except it is not a problem for every other car manufacturer on the planet. There is no hide and seek. They all tell you @ when the next year model is coming out - generally around September. They tell what exactly are the changes (if any) - usually a price increase. And people decide what...

Not necessarily. Everyone's tax situation is different. One might consider the purchase with an expected $7500 tax credit as simply paying their quarterly estimate. Some (me) might prefer a purchase in December 2023 so it will be easier to maximize business use and bonus depreciation.
Yes. Your insurance has to be resolved BEFORE you take delivery. Last century my Dad was an insurance agent. As a kid I would go with him to car dealerships so he could write a "binder" insuring the car before they would drive it off the lot. Today most people with car insurance are...
Interesting looking at your EDD's - always this year. My order was 3 days later and had much wilder swings including next year. Until is has now settled down in line with yours. And then looking at Potterton who ordered a month before us, is a single day earlier of range. The common...

Well the more important question is whether or not the 2024 comes with any changes i.e front camera, led lighting? Otherwise, for the most part it is not that important.
Agreed. Also pretty dumb to include "today" in the EDD. Zero chance of that ever happening - and I live @ 1 1/2 hours from the SC and 3 hours from the. factory.

I guess I will get a new update every day if they want to continue including "today" as a potential EDD
A 2024 will always be worth more than a 2023. Initially a lot and diminishing over time. But no one wants to be the person who bought the 2023 on the last day before the change over. Any actual changes may make the "difference" even more important.
The rest of the planet does not do it that way. There is a time lag between production and delivery. Under your proposal many people will stop buying in December knowing the new model year is just around the corner. What is Tesla going to do with all the cars they build in December that are...
