How many service visits in 6 months of ownership is too many before asking for a buyback

No, the car is now in the SC since Wednesday wit ETA We’d 22nd but at least I spoke to a fairly nice tech who acknowledged all my concerns and they also made a body shop appointment to fix some alignment and relatively minor cosmetic issues. Technically I probably qualify for lemon law as total...

Is it time to dump and run?

That’s an easy one even though the question is not directed at me - while I don’t “hate” him, I can barely stand the guy not because of his viewpoints, but because he’s stopped being an effective business leader at Tesla as hinted by multiple indicators including high burnout of executives...

    Seat Vibration/Tremor

I’ll let you know how it drives next week - car in Paramus (again) with ETA pickup 22nd. Hopefully they would have resolved the leaky half shaft and can now test with the newly balanced tires. The stock tires with a properly aligned and road force balanced car should not fare any worse or better...

    Seat Vibration/Tremor

Ah and let’s not forget the half shafts. The tire shop also noticed my right half shaft was leaking grease and had a torn boot. Only 3.15k miles. Being examined now at the SC among a few other things.

    Seat Vibration/Tremor

My MXP has very obvious vibration in the passenger seat that I can feel by placing my palm just behind the headrest. I have changed the stock continentals almost right after delivery so this is with the pirelli weatheractive non stock tires. There are two reasons behind this. One is the seat...

MXLR or inventory MXP with repairs

I have not been able to discern LR vs Plaid in smoothness. Test drove LR 3 times before I both the MXP and they feel very similar.

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Apparently Musk wants to convince you of the same judging by his Twitter/X rants - one wonders why doesn’t he simply refute it instead of getting involved in childish attacks on the source. Maybe discrediting a source is one way to deal with inconvenient revelations?

    Snippiness 2.0

That’s a pretty obtuse comment and I usually don’t get involved in forum squabbles or labeling, but can’t pass on that one. Needing the $ is to be interpreted as “need to have a paycheck right away, severance is inadequate, I’m afraid I can’t land a new job soon enough” and not needing $ in...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Is this why Musk has been going off on Reuters in his tweets lately? https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/inside-story-elon-musks-mass-firings-tesla-supercharger-staff-2024-05-15/ Confirming the personal nature of this action - to show his exec who’s the real boss. And this...

    2023 MXP front axle issue

Yeah the Hunter machine is what measured this it turns out. Tirerack agreed to swap the tire under warranty. Going tomorrow to change it and rebalance. Then need to ship tire back. $100 or so later I hope this turns out better. For the leaky half shaft boot I have service with Tesla on Wed among...

parallel universe: assume $ is not an issue (gas, payments, etc.), would you still insist driving MX/MXP SUV over say BMW X7 SUV 100% fully optioned ?

That’s how they all are. Mine is even worse on driver side but since that gap is present on all (gap is above door and no gap is rear quarter window) I decided not to bother asking them to correct it any time I did so some other damage was done. That piano trim chipping on rear quarter is from...

MXLR or inventory MXP with repairs

Unless made in early 2023, the car has HW4.

Some of the gaps you show like in the 3rd pic where the rear quarter trim meets the trim above rear door are normal and all Xs have them. But some of the other stuff is unacceptable of course. I guess that debate got settled. You won’t get a perfect vehicle with an X - they don’t exist.

MXLR or inventory MXP with repairs

what I’m saying is I would buy a demo or a showroom car or a near new used car if I can verify the so called repair is indistinguishable from new. Whether it’s an actual demo not being relevant, more like the warranty and state of the car. A repainted door can be inspected for color match and if...
